Detective Eve Dallas and her partner, Peabody, are following up on a senseless crime--an elderly grocery owner killed by three stoned punks for nothing more than kicks and snacks. This is Peabody's first case as primary detective--good thing she learned from the master. But soon Peabody stumbles upon a trickier situation. After a hard workout, she's all alone in the locker room when the gym door clatters open, and--while hiding inside a shower stall trying not to make a sound--she overhears two fellow officers arguing. It doesn't take long to realize they're both crooked--guilty not just of corruption but of murder. Now Peabody, Eve, and Eve's husband, Roarke, are trying to get the hard evidence they need to bring down the dirty cops--knowing all the while that the two are willing to kill to keep their secret.

Great series. Not a dud in the bunch. Fun and enjoyable.
3.5 rounded down to 3 due to Dallas’ actions. I thought Treachery in Death was a good well-written story until Chapter 17. Then it became Dallas knowing everything and always being right. I really disliked the way she treated Webster. I like Webster. I think he is a stand up cop. In prior books Dallas has always treated Webster badly because he was working in Internal Affairs. Dallas has called Webster a rat on numerous occasions. In this book, she’s looking into numerous bad cops but that’s OK because she’s Dallas. She goes behind Webster’s back and hides things from him. She meets with the chief of police behind Webster‘s back to convince him that she belongs in charge of the case. She wants to retain control of the case because of course she always knows best. Sometimes I get really sick of her and her self-righteousness. I was really disappointed in her actions.
This is one of the BEST in this series! I can’t explain exactly why. Maybe because someone could have killed Peabody. Add dirty cops who disrespect the badge and everything Eve stands for. She is a mother bear out to hurt the ppl who dared to scare her fun. She is the tiger and lion that will stop at nothing!, plow thru anything to stop the crime and people who dare to disrespect her police force. Well oiled her team backs her up and follows every order. Baxter makes a show and works with Eve. Also, Baxter might just fall in love…. I could not put this book down!!! Late to work, up late at night reading. Crazy if you do not buy it!!!
One of the Best In Death stories. All her team is involved and the story flows fast! By the end you want to Stan up and cheer!
Out of the 60+ books in Eve Dallas, In Death series, this book is one of my favorites. The plot, the team effort, and the way Lt. Dallas and her team took down corruption, was nothing short of awesome.
