A real eye opener.

Great book. If everyone read this, Trump would not have been elected. Even his son in law said he skewed the truth and repeated it until people believed it to be the truth.
"Nobody's done what I've done." That is 100% true, and nobody would have dared do what Trump did in his 1st term. Trump's method of handling adversity is "I just do things, okay? I do what I want." Trump tried and failed to circumvent the laws of the United States under our Constitution. Trump thinks "The president's job is to investigate corruption." -- That isn't in the Constitution. Trump's legal troubles are self-propagated, he invites it by trying to skirt around the laws, complains about the courts, and being treated unfairly. "I think I probably had the calmest White House in history."Woodward was very deferential to Trump, trying to extract more information by polishing his ego. It didn't work. However, this book confirmed for me that Trump is inherently selfish, and lacks the power to empathize with other people, unless he invites them into his self-created world. It's an exclusive circle until he casts you out. I have always found Trump to be a rambling speaker, who doesn't complete sentences, and who, is only semi-coherent to incoherent. These tapes are no different. There were a half-dozen times where Trump actually spoke in complete sentences, but nothing of importance was given out.If you have followed Trump closely over the years, you'll see all of his top hits repeated over and over again. Trump never lets Bob Woodward get in the way of repeating his best grievance filled moments. Trump mostly ignores questions, or only gives half-answers, before circling back to grievance.Under the Favorite Dictators interview #6, Bob Woodward asks Trump "So now do you see this story about the Saudis intercepting xxxx xxxxx'x phone?", and he answers "Yeah.". I found that quite interesting under our current political climate. You'd have to read it for yourself.
The thought of listening to Trump was off-putting but I'm glad I did. Many people online are saying he's got dementia. As a caregiver for a man with real dementia, I totally disagree.Trump is fixated with his poll numbers. EVERY conversation includes his latest attention to them. He shows himself with every word that he lives his life like a mob boss, just as cruel as any you've seen in movies or that famous series with the guy who goes to therapy, although dollars to donuts Trump would never go to therapy. He uses blackmail and bullying to force other dictators to do his bidding and the bottom line is the bottom line.I highly recommend this audiobook because more people need to hear this ten hour compilation of twenty interviews in his own voice and truth matters.
