Florida Grange, Leonard's drop-dead gorgeous lawyer and Hap's former lover, has vanished in Klan-infested Grovetown while in pursuit of the real story behind the jailhouse death of a legendary bluesman's blackguard son. Has she been murdered too? Fearing the worst, Hap and Leonard set out to do the kind of investigating the good ole boy cops can't - or won't - do themselves.

Fantastic

I read this book and loved it and wanted to get a physical copy. I was a little worried about buying a book so old labeled as "new" but the book arrived new, wrapped and fast. Will definitely buy from this seller again!

Love this series

I just finished Mucho Mojo. Ready for the next adventure. The only reason I rated this a 3 is because of the construction of what was supposed to be a new book. I would recommend saving a few bucks and buying used.

Dark, disturbing, and scary. But classic Hap and Leonard

These guys just get into trouble. They mean well, and want to help, but they can't help but let their mouths make the worst of a bad situation. And I can't help but root for them both.Ugly times, ugly actions, and violence. Yet I like the pair enough to keep coming back to see how they get themselves out of their next mess.

Trouble for Hap & Leonard in the redneck town of Grovetown.

Hap and Leonard are a two-man search & rescue team, as well as a two-man demolition team. The plot starts out as it does in most of their adventures: find someone who has gone missing or dead. In this case, they are searching for a black woman named Florida, with whom Hap and Marvin have had affairs. She has gone missing in the seriously redneck town of Grovetown. There is very little action in this entry. As Hap describes it, he is in a Zen time of his life. But when the action comes, it is bad news for the boys. Both get seriously injured after being ganged up on in a café and then run off the road into a marsh. The main character in this episode is the rain and lots of it. Not the hurricane we will see later in The Elephant of Surprise, but enough for a dam to break, sweep Hap and Leonard away, and wipe out the town. Lansdale’s most interesting character is Police Chief Cantuck, who will have you guessing about his intentions throughout the novel. Low key but well done.
