I absolutely loved this book. As someone who doesn’t really read this genre, I was very pleasantly surprised. Freya’s story hooked me in from the very beginning, immersing me in the world she was building. She has a way with words that allowed me to get lost in the story, almost like it was playing as a movie in the back of my mind. I felt Bay’s frustration, her confusion, her longing for things denied to her. I felt the world come to life too. This is a fresh new twist on a mermaid tale that ticks all the boxes! Highly recommend this book!! Freya is one to watch!
A wonderful coming of age story! Clearly and beautifully showcasing the doubts, struggles, and growing pains of finding yourself and learning who you are and who you want to be. Of taking the steps and making the choices to be yourself and finding ways to be true to who you want to be despite (or for) the consequences that may ensue.
I read this on the recommendation of my friend Erin. She said that the end made her cry and that it’s a mermaid tale. I love mermaid stories. Oh, and I cried too. It’s wonderful to have a warm fuzzy feeling after reading a book. Freya Aguiar, you are a wonderful author.
The cover sold me on this book. I’m willing to try anything with mermaids in it, and this book didn’t disappoint! I read the entire book in one sitting and I was really impressed by the storytelling. The world is well developed and the characters felt so real!4 1/4 💜’s.
This is a twist on mermaids and their cold hearts. I really loved the story and the adventure Bay must go on to find herself and set Atlantis free. She just wanted to be loved by her mother and figure out where she came from what secrets were kept from her. Turns out it was a lot.
