To make some needed money, Jewel convinces her parents to turn the decrepit farmhouse into a B&B. Soon her old high school flame turned contractor steps in to help, but Jewel questions whether he is trustworthy. Those "troublesome" neighbors--a handsome widower and his teenage daughter--just might be the key to making all this work?
Along the way, they'll all discover that it takes a village to keep a man with dementia (and a goofy sense of humor) from unraveling everything!

Welcome to the Honey B & B has a great storyline. Its easy to read and once you get started its a hard one to put down. It deals with real life hardships of the illness of dementia and eye opening facts regarding those who may deal with a family member on a daily basis with this illness.I would recommend this great read to everyone!Hey Melody...looking forward to a series taken from the Honey B & B! ;-)
The beautiful country setting, the wonderful strong and realistic characters, the painful topic of frontotemporal dementia (ftd) and how it affects so many lives, and the overwhelming themes of love, faith, family, friends, and resilience all blend together brilliantly to make this a book I'll never forget. Finding out after reading it that ftd is part of Melody Carlson's life shows why she was able to write the characters of CT and Honey so beautifully. I have a dear friend with this brutal disease and I thought of her and tears fell quite often while reading. I highly recommend this book to anyone touched by this terrible disease and also for anyone who has been blessed not to have it in their life.
The book arrived in excellent condition. Melody Carlsen is one of my favorite authors but this book was SO disappointing. The title leaves one to believe it will be about a B & B. It certainly was not! It was about the decision of whether or not to transform an old farmhouse into a B & B and a bit about the process of doing so. Story ended abruptly before the first customers arrived. Instead it was mostly about caring for an elderly father who had dementia and the challenges this presented.
I'm blessed that someone at my local library is a Melody Carlson fan! She has always been at the top of the list of my favorite authors. This book ... wow. I have a few chapters yet to read but feel confident my opinion won't change. Have never before read a book that delves into the thoughts of the person with dementia - broadened my understanding. And the toll it takes on family is heart breaking. The wife, the daughter, the granddaughter, as well as neighbors ... There is no rule book of easy solutions but this story showed how to get through it and retain your own sanity. Patience, compassion, a sense of humor are all necessary! So well done!
This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. I grew up on a farm and went to school in a small town, farming neighbors, other country kids, the community of all. The characters in this story are wonderful. The coming back together of a family. Highly recommended.
