From the minute I ran, I knew my life was over.
Emily
I left my family and everything I knew.
Hid myself away where no one would find me.
I thought I was safe. Untraceable.
I was wrong.
Now, there's only one thing I can do if I want to stay alive.
Run.
Tamir
I like to think I help balance the scales of good and evil, one payday at a time. No messy red tape. No long, drawn out legal proceedings. Just me, my mark, and a mountain of sins.
Some might ask who I was to play judge and jury about another man's worth.
I would say, piss off. No one asked you.
Most of my targets are just another day's work, but her? She's different.
I feel an unrelenting need to lay my eyes on all of her coveted secrets. To learn the extent of her corruption and see how it compares to my own.
She thinks she can escape me.
I'll never let her go.

A Note from the Author: For those of you who are new to me, I write what I'd call "mafia lite." My heroes are hardened criminals with soft spots for their heroines. There may be violence and cruelty in my books, but never between the main characters. Enjoy!

Tamir and his secrets will become your favorite quiet hero. Emily is running from something, and once the truth comes out does it change everything?
This book had so many twists and turns, just when I thought I had it figured out, another twist would come up. Loved how Tamir was persistent, but not obvious about it. You could feel his pain, friendships, frustrations and how he kept control, but also his love. Emily, I felt her fear and her heartache, she is a strong female character that no matter what she kept persevering even when in fear. Even though she struggled and took her time in the end she made her decision and found her way.
From the cover of night to Undercovers this book is a must read. Tamir & Emily know to hide their secrets until close to the end.
I read one book by Jill and was hooked!!! I have read all of them now except The Savage Pride Duet and I am just starting it.Definitely a great author!!
it’s really a 3.5 rating but let’s start with the positives. As usual, this series is based on everyone having secrets, and both main characters had plenty, which led to so many events and plot twists, you had to keep reading! Now, my reason for a 3.5 rating is because I honestly did not like Emily for like 50% of the book. Holy hell this woman says she has great mannerisms and was brought up with morals, so she volunteers in a shelter and has to help her trainer Tamir clean up the mess her classmates left him with. What she doesn’t seem to see is that she is the most self-centered, ungrateful character I’ve ever read! The woman gets saved, and can’t seem to say thank you, then she steals a car, and can’t seem to apologize. Now, I get it- she’s trying to save her life from people who want her dead, but the least she can do is express genuine gratitude to the man who is trying to help her. I liked Tamir from book 3, with Maria and Matteo, so maybe I’m biased, but I think she could’ve been more grateful.Tamir is awesome , a total badass with no regrets! He also was not giving up his passions bc she asked him to, and I liked that. He stayed true to himself the entire time.I still would recommend the book, the plots are great!
