NEW YORK TIMES  BESTSELLER - Learn to cook, host, and eat like a private chef with 100 recipes from Meredith Hayden of Wishbone Kitchen.

Inspired by years working as a chef in New York City and the Hamptons, as well as her childhood summers on Nantucket, Meredith Hayden makes food that is both unfussy and elegant—often with a touch of whimsy. In
The Wishbone Kitchen Cookbook,  Meredith teaches you to cook like a professional hostess (and have fun while doing it). This is the kind of food to celebrate every season of life; the kind of cooking you don’t start until you’ve made yourself a drink first. Recipes range from 20-minute meals to show-stopping centerpieces, all fit for your next dinner party.

Here you’ll find big salads (
Blueberry BBQ Grilled Chicken Salad) and sharable sammies (the  Ultimate Italian); there are your starters, your grazers, your chatting-with-friends snackers like  Hot Crab Dip  and  Really Good Guac. Serve the  Pink Lemon Pasta  when friends come over after work or pack up the  Farro Broccoli Salad  for lunch the next day. Snack on an  Heirloom Tomato Galette  and veg out on  Asparagus Fries with Feta. Your authority on all things seafood, Meredith shows you the easiest way to break down a lobster so that you can use it in a number of recipes like the  Lobster Avocado Salad  and  Wok Lobster. Or how to shuck oysters so you can enjoy them grilled or with a yuzu kosho mignonette. Throw your own  Nantucket Clam Bake, why not?

With sharp, witty commentary, themed menus, and gorgeous imagery,
The Wishbone Kitchen Cookbook  will inspire you to rediscover the joy in cooking, romanticize your grocery hauls, and find any excuse to celebrate with friends and family.

A Joy to Cook From—Endlessly Adaptable and Delicious

Absolutely love this cookbook so far—every recipe I’ve tried has been a hit! You can tell that each dish was tested and developed with real care and intention. What I especially appreciate is how easy it is to adapt the recipes to fit your preferences or dietary needs. As a pescatarian, I’ve swapped tempeh in for chicken in a few recipes (like the blueberry salad—to die for!), and the flavors still shine through beautifully. I even used the leftover dressing from that salad to make a blueberry-glazed salmon the next night, and it was just as incredible. I also added rice to the pan-fried fish and citrus salad, and it made for a perfect meal. The flexibility and inspiration in this book make me excited to keep cooking. Every recipe feels like a winner, and I can’t wait to post more photos as I go. So proud of Meredith and happy to support her journey—this cookbook is a true gem!

The absolute best cookbook

Meredith, I simply do not have enough words to describe how much I love your cook book. Every single recipe has been a 10/10. We probably make the sun gold pasta recipe at least once a week. The boyfriend chicken is by far my favorite whole chicken recipe that I've ever made. I can't wait to spend the summer working my way through the rest of this book!

Beautiful book loaded with food you'll be excited to serve your family and friends.

I'm late to the Wishbone Kitchen but ordered the cookbook based on an IG post. It's been a long time since I've filled up pages of notes with new recipes I want to try. This book leans heavily on seafood - lobster, crab, scallop - with a few chicken ideas. The salad and salad dressings are beautiful and complex and I'm systematically going through them. Be prepared to buy so many more shallots at the market. These are recipes that you've maybe seen before but with just a little extra finesse, subtle details that make the dishes taste and look better.

This book is a double treat, for yourself but it makes a lovely gift for a great price!

First, this book is extremely lovely from the beautiful retro cover lining, to the photography to the final stars, the recipes. I immediately decided to put it to the test by planning my weekend menus from the book. Friday it’s the “Tomato Baked Cod” (page 180) served over a bed of Balsamic rice, alongside “The Green Salad” (page 65) with some simple dessert. Saturday, the evening festivities start with “Dirty Martinis with Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives (page 223), my personal favorite and “Caesar Crudités” (page 34S). Followed with steaks from the grill, served with “Grilled summer vegetables” (page 111); making substitutions with the vegetables per their anvai and fresh baked crusty rolls. It’s my dear friend Kathryn’s birthday and I’m going to try the “Olive Oil Cake with Peaches and Cream” (page 215); if I can’t find great peaches, I’ll substitute black raspberries. There will be strong coffee and some decaf for the faint of heart! With an assortment of liquors. The patio and table will be covered with an abundance of sun flowers, hydrangeas and gardenias plus candles everywhere..I am so looking forward to celebrate with these dear friends and know these new recipes will be a welcome addition to my collection.Upon finishing her cookbook, Ms. Hayden has compiled curated menus for several holidays and seasons and I look forward to using them as they take the stress out of menu planning

I am really happy with this beautiful book

I love this cookbook. At first glance I wasn’t sure if I would use many of the recipes as it’s a lot of seafood and some of the recipes seem a little tedious for someone who cooks for mostly young kids. But I read thru everything and have used it as a guide for the past few weeks and have been pleasantly surprised. The recipes are fresh and healthy but incorporate comfort food. It has bare bones basics as well as explanations of more difficult recipes. The art and aesthetics are beautiful. The photographs are beautiful.I do enjoy reading the book but of course as a TikTok follower, I was hoping there would be more backstories and mentions of TikTok. I don’t think it mentions TikTok once but that’s ok, that’s why it’s a professional cookbook I guess.Top recipes I’ve made: PLT Salad, Sungold Tomato Pasta, Crab Fried Rice, Sesame Chili Crunch, Shake ‘N Bake Chicken with hot honey tomatoes

A bit disappointed

Super bummed to leave this review because I love following wishbone kitchen and the recipes she always shares on her socials seem super delicious. I knew I wanted to buy her cookbook once it was released. While it is a beautiful book , well written with great imagery - I’m not super excited about the recipes she shares in this book. They are very coastal, lots of lobster, crab, etc. Which is fine for every once in a while but when I want to cook American food - I already reach for this book so much less than I reach for my Ina books or Alison Roman books. I was hoping to have that same love for this books as I do for those and this just wasn’t the case. Also - the desserts are a total snooze. Most of it is kind of snoozey. Really nothing too exciting in this book. Big Bummer.

Ahh the joy of coastal living

This cookbook is a seafood lover’s dream, filled with fresh, creative dishes. However, many of the ingredients—like specific fresh shellfish or regional fish varieties—are more accessible to those living near the coast or with access to specialty seafood markets. If you’re landlocked or reliant on frozen options, some recipes may require extra planning or substitutions. A peach of a read, I look forward to trying these vibrant dishes.

Exceeded my expectations!

I have LOVED this book so far. Even though I live in California with not the same seafood options I know I will be able to make a ton of these recipes. I can tell Meredith poured her heart into this as so many details are well thought out from the cute illustrations (my one year old daughter loves!), to the beautiful photography, and recipes that feel approachable for beginners, but also have a wow factor. Thank you Wishbone kitchen! I’m looking forward to cooking through your book!

Love love love!!

Already my favorite cookbook. The book itself is beautiful. Gorgeous photos and watercolors. Have made a bunch of recipes so far and all have been delicious. I love the tips she includes and that there are often shortcuts if you don’t want to take all the steps (like subbing a store bought pesto or chili crunch in a more involved recipe). It’s organized well and hosting ideas are included.

Stunning and Amazing

Loveee. I went through and bookmarked a bunch of recipe’s, so many great ones. It’s perfect for hosting, and when you want a more elevated meal. I think it’s especially great for people who have basic cooking skills down, but I also appreciate the helpful how-to’s included for certain recipes. Also such a cute book!! Chefs kisses
