In this #1 New York Times bestseller, California's newest private investigator, Detective Harry Bosch, must track down a missing heir while helping a police department connect the dots on a dangerous cold case.
Harry Bosch is California's newest private investigator. He doesn't advertise, he doesn't have an office, and he's picky about who he works for, but it doesn't matter. His chops from thirty years with the LAPD speak for themselves.

Soon one of Southern California's biggest moguls comes calling. The reclusive billionaire is nearing the end of his life and is haunted by one regret. When he was young, he had a relationship with a Mexican girl, his great love. But soon after becoming pregnant, she disappeared. Did she have the baby? And if so, what happened to it?

Desperate to know whether he has an heir, the dying magnate hires Bosch, the only person he can trust. With such a vast fortune at stake, Harry realizes that his mission could be risky not only for himself but for the one he's seeking. But as he begins to uncover the haunting story--and finds uncanny links to his own past--he knows he cannot rest until he finds the truth.

At the same time, unable to leave cop work behind completely, he volunteers as an investigator for a tiny cash-strapped police department and finds himself tracking a serial rapist who is one of the most baffling and dangerous foes he has ever faced.

Swift, unpredictable, and thrilling, The Wrong Side of Goodbye shows that Michael Connelly "continues to amaze with his consistent skill and sizzle" (Cleveland Plain Dealer).

Entertaining even for an ex-cop!

So good, I ordered more of the series. Connolly is the Tom Clancy of police novels. He paints a picture in your mind. It's like watching the movie in your head.He paints a different picture of Harry Bosch than was portrayed on the tv series by Amazon. He’s a Vietnam veteran, not Gulf War veteran, and so on.

Outstanding! Michael Connelly never lets you down. This is yet another marvel of intrigue in the Detective Bosch series. I’ve been steadily working my way through reading the entire Bosch series and never once through the entire series thus far am I ever disappointed. The author leaves me eager to move on immediately to the next book in the series and I currently just finished book 19 right now. The intrigue with twists and turns that you couldn’t have guessed were coming is always what delights me the most and makes for a page turner I have great difficulty putting down. I read through the Detective Bosch series quite rapidly because I’m so involved in the storyline I have to know what’s about to happen next. I enjoy the depths with which Connelly draws us into the mind, thoughts, feelings, turmoil and even the honorable ethos by which Detective Bosch choose to live by and even his ongoing interactions with his daughter who is set on following through on becoming an officer of the law just like her father. Bosch feels reach and has such worthy substance to his character and I know already I’m going to regret when I get to the end of this series because I would love to continue reading about his life and police work fighting against great wrongdoing choosing to be a voice for the voiceless to the end of my days. This is as good as it gets. I highly encourage others who are crime novel fans as I am and who love intrigue to join me in reading the entire series and the other books Michael Connelly has written as well which I will continue to do as soon as I find h these. Never a disappointment. I’m so grateful I discovered them finally. Bravo!
