A motherless nine-year-old girl glances out her school bus window and notices a tiger licking its paws behind Target. Nobody else sees it and nobody believes her, not even her father, a local game warden, because it is well known that Bell Tern has an untamed imagination. But evidence mounts and with it, the possibility that Bell is telling the truth and a most unlikely predator could be prowling a seemingly placid suburb of Los Angeles.
Based on true events, rooted in the stunning Southern California landscape, and populated with vivid characters, American Tiger is about more than a frantic tiger hunt. It's about a child's quest for self-discovery, her stoic father's struggle to come to terms with their past, and the innate wildness of every living thing.

This book was excellent—well written with a really engaging story. It was an easy, enjoyable read that kept me interested from start to finish. I genuinely enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it.
I loved this book. The writing. The story. All the interesting characters (two-legged, one-legged, four-legged, and winged). The setting. Everything about it. It's sweet. And it's gripping. I read it in three nights. My husband picked it up after I finished and loves it as much as I do. "It's such a page turner," he remarked. (And he doesn't usually read that much in one sitting.) I highly recommend this book. Might be my favorite of the year. Also, it's a book that appeals to all ages. Bravo Adam! Look forward to your next one. :)
I enjoyed every page of this adventure. Adam really brought the characters and Southern California locations to life.
Finally, a novel about wildlife and the critical balance we strike with nature that “earns its stripes” without being preachy. This is an excellent read for anyone interested is learning about the exotic animal trade and how it impacts the whole of society. It does so beautifully, without the need to resort to profanity and innuendo. This story couples the education of a young girl traveling the road to maturity while seeking answers about her mother, who died early in her life and whom she later comes to know through a secreted memoir.Fast paced, villainy, avarice, a misguided quest for fame and glory, all wrapped around a mysterious beast thought to be a mere fantasy. Get it, read it, and grab a smile!
I loved the book!
