A Time Best YA Book of All Time
Margaret shares her secrets and her spirituality in this iconic Judy Blume novel, beloved by millions.
Margaret Simon, almost twelve, likes long hair, tuna fish, the smell of rain, and things that are pink. She's just moved from New York City to Farbook, New Jersey, and is anxious to fit in with her new friends--Nancy, Gretchen, and Janie. When they form a secret club to talk about private subjects like boys, bras, and getting their first periods, Margaret is happy to belong.
But none of them can believe Margaret doesn't have religion, and that she isn't going to the Y or the Jewish Community Center. What they don't know is Margaret has her own very special relationship with God. She can talk to God about everything--family, friends, even Moose Freed, her secret crush.
Margaret is funny and real. As you read her story, you'll know why this book has been the favorite of millions of readers. It's as if Margaret is talking right to you, sharing her secrets with a friend.

I bought this for my granddaughter after reading it myself when I was 12. She loved it!
I vaguely remembered this book growing up. My almost 12 yr. old daughter asked to read it after seeing a friend with it. We watched the movie together and sheβs just finished the book. The 1-star reviews are silly! Yes, thereβs a reference to Dadβs with Playboy. The book is from the 70βs-80βs. Thatβs no different than today with social media being thrown in your face full of scantily clad teens that old men follow, OnlyFans, stores than cater to girls needing to show more skin/load up the makeup to look older and more sexually attractive. The moral of the story, according to my child was a) donβt lie just to seem cool to your friends because theyβll find out and know your truth, b) find a friend in everyone, donβt just be friends with who people tell you to, c) Itβs ok to feel out of place, you will eventually figure out where you want to be.
Girls becoming teenagers and the different things they thought about as they are starting to grow up and stories they shared with each other
A MUST for any and every preteen gal!
So nostalgic. I remembered reading this growing up and wanted a hard copy for my collection. Good read!
