NATIONAL BESTSELLER
From the #1 New York Times-bestselling author of So You Want to Talk About Race and Mediocre, an eye-opening and galvanizing look at the current state of anti-racist activism across America.
In the #1 New York Times bestseller So You Want To Talk About Race, Ijeoma Oluo offered a vital guide for how to talk about important issues of race and racism in society. In Mediocre: The Dangerous Legacy of White Male America, she discussed the ways in which white male supremacy has had an impact on our systems, our culture, and our lives throughout American history. But now that we better understand these systems of oppression, the question is this: What can we do about them?
With Be A Revolution: How Everyday People are Fighting Oppression and Changing the World--and How You Can, Too, Oluo aims to show how people across America are working to create real positive change in our structures. Looking at many of our most powerful systems--like education, media, labor, health, housing, policing, and more--she highlights what people are doing to create change for intersectional racial equity. She also illustrates various ways in which the reader can find entryways into change in these same areas, or can bring some of this important work being done elsewhere to where they live.
This book aims to not only be educational, but to inspire action and change. Oluo wishes to take our conversations on race and racism out of a place of pure pain and trauma, and into a place of loving action. Be A Revolution is both an urgent chronicle of this important moment in history, as well as an inspiring and restorative call for action.

Another great addition to Oluo's catalog. Necessary reading in 2025.
So much difficult and challenging work done here for us to learn from and challenge ourselves.
I originally read an ebook of this from the library but wanted to own a copy because so much of it is useful information to carry over into every day life. I wanted to be able to mark up my own copy that I could easily refer too.If you are looking to enhance and grow your advocacy then this book is for you. Engaging and informative read that taught me a lot and built on ideas I knew some about but not in depth. I learned about so many BIPOC activists and ways to be impactful and revolutionary in my own world and circles.
I listened to the audio book (read by the author) and really loved it. I definitely want to pick up the physical book for easier reference. This book combines first person stories and the greater context for all kinds of movement work and how they intersect. There were several people profiled that I knew of and enjoyed hearing more about them as well as being introduced to new people and work.I also liked learning about more recent events, especially ones in my home city, Seattle. I really liked how she broke down ways that people can get involved, overall a great resource.
This book was definitely an eye catcher for me. It kept my attention throughout. I was drawn into this book through the various stories of activism told. Each of these stories caught my attention with inspiration and encouragement. I am giving this book a five out of five stars and recommend it to anyone who wants to change this world and be touched by it.
