A struggling waitress and the heir to a major Seattle company stumble into a high-profile fake engagement while simultaneously trying to keep up with their own love lives in this flirty fall rom-com!
Lexi Danby is looking for some no-strings, fall fun. Once a college track star, she was forced to drop out when her father passed away. Now she's trying to make ends meet while putting herself through school and caring for her grieving mother. When her comically bad waitressing lands her directly in the path of a handsome, charming stranger named Will, Lexi may just have found the distraction she's been looking for. Their first date looks promising until a misunderstanding at a party thrusts Lexi and Will into a fake engagement they can't talk themselves out of. And Will turns out to be a member of Seattle royalty.
Will Grand is heir to a major company, and Seattle's most eligible bachelor. But he's been placed in charge of an important merger with a company that values family above all else, and needs to show them that he's settled down. While a fake engagement is advantageous from a business standpoint, it's not so great for a budding relationship with a woman who's wary of commitment. With a woman who Will is beginning to care about much more than he could have anticipated.
As Lexi gets a taste of Will's glamorous world and the pair keeps up the pretense of their fake engagement for the press, they decide to see where a more casual relationship takes them out of the spotlight. And amid apple picking in comfy flannels, outdoor breweries in the crisp air, and fun Halloween preparations, Lexi starts to realize the scariest part of the season might just be taking a chance on love.

It's a fairly common premise but the author is awesome at character development. I really enjoyed each character as they were introduced and loved them by the end, even Will's parents. The pace is nice, not too quick not too slow, I was happy throughout and cheering by the end. I will be watching for more.
What an adorable read! I found myself craving more & more of this one. Both main characters were so likeable, and the friendships in this book were truly top tier.I simply adored it from start to finish!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.I ended up adding this book to my DNF list, but I read 48% of the book first and believe I read enough to provide some feedback.I liked the premise. I typically enjoy rom-coms with fake relationships. I just couldn't get into this one, though. First off, it was difficult for me to read because the writing feels very immature. As if it were written by a high schooler.Speaking of high school, the main female character, Lexi, is in her 20s, but still obsessed with thoughts of high school and the people she went to school with. I'm sorry, but why would a 20-something working female with other things to focus on, care so much about what old classmates think of her? Seems strange to me. Like, she left a work early with a stranger when she needed money, all because old classmates showed up to the restaurant she worked at? No logical adult would do that.I also do not care for the main characters. I feel they have no chemistry and their meet cute didn't feel authentic or cute to me. It felt forced and awkward.
Alexandria (Lexi) Danby is a struggling waitress; trying to make ends meet while going to school and caring for her widowed mother. When I say struggling, I mean to say that she is terrible as a waitress. Not wanting to be seen working by her high school best friends, Lexi pretend to be with her boyfriendβ¦ a random patron at the restaurant. Will Grand is heir to one of the most successful companyβs in Seattle, and one of the most eligible bachelors. His family has been on him to get married. Tired of his mom setting him up on dates, he plays along with Lexi but now he has more long term ideas. Fake engagement that would be mutually beneficial. Lexi doesnβt do long-term and Will is looking to keep his family off his back. While being in fake engaged, they decide to date for real.I absolutely adored this story and all the secondary characters. So can they turn what started as fake into something real? Youβll have to one-click to find out.
This was my very first Sophie Sullivan novel and it did not disappoint! Canβt Help Falling in Love is the ultimate cozy meet cute for your fall reading list. In this sweet, friends to lovers romance we meet Lexi, a young and grieving waitress who is clumsy and terrible at her job. Will is her handsome customer who finds Lexiβs clumsiness adorable and takes pity on her when her shallow high school friends invite her to one of their swanky parties. One thing leads to another and somehow they find themselves caught in a fake engagement. However, it isnβt long until they discover that there is nothing fake about their feelings for one another. I loved the characters and found Lexi to be relatable which only made me love her even more. I feel Willβs character could have used a little more depth to avoid him falling flat on the page but all in all the two characters worked well and made for a great love story.. I also appreciated that this story wasn't just your typical romcom but also added tones of grief giving more depth and dimension to my reading experience. If you love the fake dating/marriage of convenience, friends to lovers tropes then you will eat this book up.
