Her father was the town detective. Her mother its most notorious criminal. Now the secrets of Mirror Lake are coming to the surface...and changing everything. "[A] stunning psychological thriller from one of the most insightful writers around" (CrimeReads), don't miss the latest from Megan Miranda, the instant New York Times bestselling author of All the Missing Girls, The Last to Vanish, and The Only Survivors.
"Miranda...exposes revelation after twisty revelation...Small-town claustrophobia and intimacies alike propel this twist-filled psychological thriller" (Kirkus Reviews, starred review).
When Hazel Sharp, daughter of Mirror Lake's longtime local detective, unexpectedly inherits her childhood home, she's warily drawn back to the town--and people--she left behind almost a decade earlier. But Hazel's not the only relic of the past to return: a drought has descended on the region, and as the water level in the lake drops, long-hidden secrets begin to emerge...including evidence that may help finally explain the mystery of her mother's disappearance.
Riveting and suspenseful, Daughter of Mine is Megan Miranda's best novel yet, filled with "delicious twists, dark secrets, and a deadly past" (Ashley Elston, New York Times bestselling author of First Lie Wins) that will keep you turning the pages late into the night.

I read this in one day! She is my favorite author!
Dynamic story, suspenseful and well-written. Officially a Megan Miranda fan!
The best and one of the only books I’ve ever picked back up to read. Perfect amount of mystery and super engaging.
This was a gripping mystery that takes you on a thrilling ride!Hazel is brought back to her hometown after her father passes away. This leads Hazel on a quest to find the truth in the present and in the past. This has a small town feel with family secrets, betrayal, and a dash of paranoia!I really liked the characters but I could have had a little more character development but even without it it was good! We see a lot of trying to reconcile the past with the present and it was interesting how they were woven together! If you like easy to read mysteries with small town vibes, dark secrets, and estranged family dynamics this is for you!
As a longtime fan of Megan Miranda, I’ve read all of her adult fiction, and Daughter of Mine absolutely delivers the suspense and atmosphere I’ve come to love from her work. While I found this one a bit more predictable than some of her previous novels, it still managed to surprise me in all the right places—and kept me hooked from the very first page.Miranda is a master at building tension in small-town settings, and this book is no exception. The sense of unease creeps in early and never lets up, and the way secrets slowly unravel had me turning pages late into the night. Her writing is sharp, immersive, and always layered with just enough emotional depth to make the stakes feel real.Even though I guessed a few of the twists ahead of time, there were still plenty of moments that caught me off guard. The pacing is tight, the characters are compelling, and the final chapters are especially satisfying. Miranda knows how to pull everything together in a way that feels earned.Whether you’re new to her work or a devoted fan like me, Daughter of Mine is a must-read. It may not be her most shocking book, but it’s another solid addition to her lineup of gripping thrillers.
