"An all-consuming work of literary fantasy that is breathtaking both for its beauty and its suspense."--BookPage, starred review
A captivating and romantic debut epic fantasy inspired by the legend of the Chinese moon goddess, Chang'e, in which a young woman's quest to free her mother pits her against the most powerful immortal in the realm.
Growing up on the moon, Xingyin is accustomed to solitude, unaware that she is being hidden from the feared Celestial Emperor who exiled her mother for stealing his elixir of immortality. But when Xingyin's magic flares and her existence is discovered, she is forced to flee her home, leaving her mother behind.
Alone, powerless, and afraid, she makes her way to the Celestial Kingdom, a land of wonder and secrets. Disguising her identity, she seizes an opportunity to learn alongside the emperor's son, mastering archery and magic, even as passion flames between her and the prince.
To save her mother, Xingyin embarks on a perilous quest, confronting legendary creatures and vicious enemies. But when treachery looms and forbidden magic threatens the kingdom, she must challenge the ruthless Celestial Emperor for her dream--striking a dangerous bargain in which she is torn between losing all she loves or plunging the realm into chaos.
Daughter of the Moon Goddess begins an enchanting duology which weaves ancient Chinese mythology into a sweeping adventure of immortals and magic, of loss and sacrifice--where love vies with honor, dreams are fraught with betrayal, and hope emerges triumphant.

The ups and downs of this story was certainly an emotional roller coaster. Some of the times I was shouting at the main character she was making a mistake. Other times, I cheered for her victories. A well written story which pulled me in and took me on the romantic adventure.
Loved it! Kept me spellbound the whole time and transported me to a magical world of adventure and beauty. A lovely read.
I read this in one go! Beautiful story, had my heart pounding, soaring, crying. I love having a strong heroine who has to overcome all odds to complete her quest, and the main character went through so much!Highly recommend if you like epic fantasy, this was a great one.
The daughter of an enemy of the royal family falls in love with the prince, but it's short lived. She gets distracted from her goal of freeing her mother by the prince and a general. Very addictive read that I can't wait to read again!
I am a avid reader of period romance novel especially Regency/ historical. Reading this was new to me, but I really enjoyed! I decided to try Daughter of the Moon Goddess after watch a Chinese romance movie that I got hooked on called The Longest Promise, and I am happy bro saw , I'm happy I chose to try this type of novel. It had action, romance, drama mystery, everything I was looking for in a novel. My only gripes with this are: I was waiting for more.I didn't love the ending, I think it needs a little more romance, and I found it weird the author chose to make Whenzi so likeable. (For the heroine) I was vey torn and still am about their relationship. This novel was good, but not great even though it has all the elements. The love scenes should have been intense and passionate between Laiwei and the heroine. It all left me with more questions than answers.I give this novel 4 out of 5 because I chose to look at the fact that this was a book I would have normally been interested in but now I'm hooked! I hope the next book by thisZz author is even better than this one. Please
