I've read other books on leadership, effective team-building, etc. from retired military folks, but Andy Stumpf's book is a little different. It focuses more on motivation and mindset for accomplishing your goals rather than how to lead a team, per se, and provides the reader with some strategies to take ownership and get past the obstacles on the path to achieving your goals.
Andy is very self-deprecating and provides countless stories of his mistakes, but also how he was able to overcome them.
Stumpf is also very clear that he doesn't think how things are done in the military always translate well to the civilian sector and that simply having served in the military does not necessarily mean someone would be a good leader, so this isn't a force-fed narrative about applying military approaches to civilian jobs/tasks.
