NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - The third installment in the heartwarming and enchanting Emily Wilde series, about a curmudgeonly scholar of folklore and the fae prince she loves
Emily Wilde has spent her life studying faeries. A renowned dryadologist, she has documented hundreds of species of Folk in her Encyclopaedia of Faeries. Now she is about to embark on her most dangerous academic project yet: studying the inner workings of a faerie realm--as its queen.
Along with her former academic rival--now fiancé--the dashing and mercurial Wendell Bambleby, Emily is immediately thrust into the deadly intrigues of Faerie as the two of them seize the throne of Wendell's long-lost kingdom, which Emily finds a beautiful nightmare filled with scholarly treasures.
Emily has been obsessed with faerie stories her entire life, but at first she feels as ill-suited to Faerie as she did to the mortal world: How can an unassuming scholar such as herself pass for a queen? Yet there is little time to settle in, for Wendell's murderous stepmother has placed a deadly curse upon the land before vanishing without a trace. It will take all of Wendell's magic--and Emily's knowledge of stories--to unravel the mystery before they lose everything they hold dear.

I love this series and these hardcover editions are so cool! No dust jackets. Just printed hardcover and I love the size of these hardbacks as well.
Loved this entire series! This is the perfect ending to a fantastic story. Highly recommended for the fantasy reader who is a romantic at heart.
This book was as good as all the rest of them, building on each other to just be the perfect fairytale.
Great book. If you LOVE fairies, this Series is AWESOME. You can't put them down.
2.5 I must say I am disappointed by the third book. The first is still my favorite, book 2 was not quite as good but it was okay, and book 3 is just okay to me. I felt by book 3 everything was being repeated over and over (book 2 also had repetition from book 1).The writing style follows the other two book where we are reading from Emily’s journal entries. This style really did not fit as well for this book and Emily had to keep explaining how it was she was writing or when she found the time to write because it really did not make sense how she was able to write as much as she was writing. The premise of this book is trying to save Wendell’s kingdom from his stepmother’s curse upon the land. Wendell was great in this book and it was fun to see him use his magic more frequently. But Wendell did not play as much of a role in this book compared to the previous ones. Emily kept running off to the mortal world to be on her own.The romance in this book was even worse. Wendell tries so hard and Emily is just lukewarm with everything. She does not really seem to care about him but it is convenient to the story so she moves forward with it. It almost would have been better to just have no romance in this series, but I do enjoy Wendell’s character. My biggest irritation with this book, which repeated from book 1, was when everything is working out and Emily goes ‘but this isn’t how the story should end…’ so of course she then has ruin excitement, do some research and change the ending because it fits some story better. I was so mad when this happened…. AGAIN. Wasn’t the first time annoying enough? I really was not too excited about this last book by the end of it.Also, the ending. Again, just okay. Nothing exciting, noting concrete and it is mainly Emily moping because she’s a scholar in case you didn’t know this by now. It is only brought up every chapter.I really loved the first book, and the second book was still pretty good, but this book really left me annoyed and disappointed. I did read all of these back-to-back so I feel like I really noticed the repetition in the stories. By the middle of this book I was wanting to switch to the Cruel Prince series. I just felt like the excitement and uniqueness of book 1 was lost by the third book.
