In the concluding volume of Larsson's Millennium trilogy, Lisbeth Salander lies in critical condition in a Swedish hospital, a bullet in her head. But she's fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she'll stand trial for three murders. With the help of Mikael Blomkvist, she'll need to identify those in authority who have allowed the vulnerable, like herself, to suffer abuse and violence.

This novel is incredible. The characters are well thought out. Lisbeth is so strong in spite of everything that has happened to her. She is resourceful even though so many people think she is less than average in her intelligence. Mikael is likeable despite Lisbeth"s mixed feelings towards him. A delightful series, full of intrigue. There are times when the reader sits on the edge of their seat. Plot twists abound in this tale. A fantastic read! One gets the full impact of the novel only after reading books one and two.

Fantastic work! I really love every book in Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series. Highly recommend.

Fantastic work! I really love every book in Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series. Highly recommend. I have read the first three books a few times now, but very much looking forward to reading the rest of the series now as I move onto book 4. The struggles that Lizbeth Salander fights through to overcome pull on the heartstrings of any woman reading these books who had been so wrongfully abused by violent seriously abusive men, but too I can see where good men would appreciate the value in her fight to overcome true tyrants. The books are written with suspense that leaves you wanting to read chapter after chapter being so hard to put down. And Salander’s magnificent triumph over those evil men who tried so hard to ruin her, to effectively destroy her, is a beautiful truth of true triumph over adversity. I highly recommend this book series to all and hold no doubt for all readers who love and appreciate well written suspense novels that you’ll enjoy it as much as I have. My only wish is that American producers would bring Daniel Craig and Roonie Mara back together as they directed and produced them in the American English version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and finish out making the rest of the books in this series into movies. They were excellent together in the first one and I strongly believe these stories of Salander deserve to be brought to life on the big screen too.

Worthwhile trilogy to read (also check out the foreign films)!

** spoiler alert ** The final book in the Millennium series definitely doesn't disappoint those who have followed the story of Blomkvist and Salander and have remained engrossed in their adventures. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest starts off after the bloody showdown between Zalachenko and Salander at Gosseberga and leads into the charges against Salander (some earned, some fabricated). While Salander spends time recovering from the bullet in her head, it's a race to gather enough evidence to prove her innocence and expose the injustice that has been done to her for years. Bringing together all the organizations that have been involved thus far, such as Milton Security and the Millennium staff, they combine their efforts to correct the "justice" system. For this novel, I didn't come across much that I disliked about the book, except that the story took a bit to pick up speed - similar to the first two books in the trilogy. One of the most exciting portions of the book was Salander's trial. It was incredible how easily the plaintiff was demolished by Salander's lawyer Giannini (Blomkvist's sister) and almost embarrassing when it was revealed that they didn't really have a case. The plaintiff obviously underestimated the whole team that was supporting Salander (as well as Salander's prowess as a hacker). I inhaled the trial - it was completely brutal. The third book amazingly wrapped up all the loose ends that existed from the previous books and brought the entire story line to a nice close.Definitely a worthwhile read for people willing to invest some time in a very captivating story and unforgettable characters. (Also, check out the foreign films!!)

Captivating!

Is there anyone left who has not read this series? I could write volumes on how much I enjoyed these books, this one being the third and last of the series. It's such a shame that author Stieg Larsson is no longer with us and there will be no more Lisbeth Salander books. I became absolutely addicted to her character while reading these books (Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and this book Girl who Kicked the Hornets nest) . Make no mistake, this is not a sequel, it's the third book in a three book series. You won't know what's going on if you have not read the first two books. Be ready when you read "Dragon Tatoo" because the first hundred or so pages it drags and is a little boring while the ground work and back story is being laid. but once it gets going you'll want to hold on to your hat. You're in for a roller coaster ride you'll never forget. By the time I finished reading this third book and knew the ride had ended it was almost like a family member had died. There was a great sense of loss that I was done reading, the story over and no more Lisbeth Salander story to follow. But don't let that stop you, if you don't read these books you will be missing out on some of the best fiction writing ever and one of if not THE most intriguing stories ever conceived by an author anywhere. If you've read the first two, you absolutely have to read this one. If you have not read the first two do not tackle this one until you do. These are thick books that are very long. At the pace I read each one took me two weeks to read. At some point I will pick these up and re-read them from beginning to end just because a story this interesting and intriguing and characters and a plot this strong deserve to be enjoyed more than once. and I'm not one that re-reads a lot of books.

Random House Large Print; Large Edition Soft Cover Product Review

Steig Larsson’s Millenium Trilogy is one of the most documented, most reviewed, and most successful sellers on Amazon. This review is not of the books per se, that would be about as redundant as possible. This short review (if found like a needle in a haystack by someone looking for this specific topic) is a product review of the Random House Large Print editions in soft cover, which I purchased from Amazon as they came out in 2009-10.Volumes as large as this, purchased as mass-market paperbacks can be as cumbersome to read as eye strain can get. If you are not a Kindle reader, take great comfort in physically holding a nice big book, and love that new book smell, this is the way to go. The soft cover binding is both strong and pliable, easy to hold on your lap, in both your hands, or set up on your chest in bed. The large print is a very comfortable contrast typeface that is perfect whether or not you wear glasses. The paper quality is superb, and all in all, Random House has spared no expense at producing a high-quality product for boomers who like to read “real books” and want to rest the eyes when devouring a massive epic like this one. At $20-25 per book, you might be thinking why not just buy the hard-back edition. Good question! At the time it was even higher priced than this one and I was under wallet restrictions. I do have to say, however, these large editions are handsome on the shelf, feel nice and comfortable in handling, and offer the perfect mixture of easy on the eyes and perfect manual dexterity friendliness. You can’t go wrong with a publisher like Random House, their bindings are solid, paper quality the highest, and their print is superior to many others.
