From the New York Times bestselling author of The Banker's Wife, worlds collide when an FBI agent investigates a string of grisly murders on Long Island and faces the impossible question: What happens when the primary suspect is your father?
FBI agent Nell Flynn hasn't been home in ten years. Nell and her father, Homicide Detective Martin Flynn, have never had much of a relationship. And Suffolk County will always be awash in memories of her mother, Marisol, who was murdered when Nell was just seven.
When Martin dies in a motorcycle accident, Nell returns to the house where she grew up so that she can spread her father's ashes and close his estate. At the behest of her father's partner, Detective Lee Davis, Nell becomes involved in an investigation into the murders of two young women in Suffolk County. The further Nell digs, the more likely it seems to her that her father should be the prime suspect--and that his friends on the police force are covering his tracks.
Plagued by doubts about her mother's murder, and her own role in exonerating her father in that case, Nell can't help but ask questions about who killed the two women and why. But she may not like the answers she finds--not just about those she loves, but about herself.

It’s good that justice won out. Very sad story with violence. The title of this book was not what I expected. Main character had a lot of hard times.
I wanted to love this, but it got in the weeds about the middle of the book and I didn't finish it. The heroine was not believable as an FBI agent. She was unethical and would have been canned many times for many reasons in real life.I think it was plot trouble or research trouble, but I hope the author doesn't stop.
I really got into this one. What a good story I don’t know if anything is true. But I wouldn’t doubt. Keep writing thank you.
I didn't really like the main character. Some of the plot did not flow and was unbelievable. The surprises weren't surprising. It did keep me reading until the end, so there's that.
I can't remember where I heard about this book, but I bought it with a few others, and a week or so later, I finally got to it. It was such a satisfying read, and I knew it would be from the first page. As a reader and a writer, you just know when a story and voice click, and this novel clicked so well for me. I read it voraciously from start to finish, and of course, I finished it fast. It's that good. Highly recommended!
