this came really cute. the spine and height does match the first 3, mostly. it doesn’t look out of place on the shelf with them. and the inside is incredible. there is detail on every single page. honestly inspired me to step up my typesetting game! anyone who typesets, these books are great inspiration!
Really substandard illustrations and paper art. Ghastly. So maybe you invested in the first three books illustrated by MinaLima and you are committed to these illustrated versions. You thought, “how bad could a new illustrator be?” Well even my ten year old who doesn’t like Harry Potter immediately noticed the illustrations are disappointing compared to the first three. This book was the low light of my birthday. It’s a thick book. It’s understandable that it would be a challenge to get it all in, but the illustrations had to be top notch and just aren’t. Comparing this side by side with the other books is just sad. It even cost more. Check it out in person before you buy. You will most certainly notice the quality shift.
I never thought there would be a 4 5 6 or 7 since those books were so long.Anyway when the announcement was made of 4 coming out I honestly thought it would have to be in 2 books! But it is indeed 1 book. I wasn't running to buy it when I heard MinaLima would not be doing the drawings or pop ups. However because books are now released fall spring and our huge HP fans bday is in the fall I knew someone would buy it for her and they did. She was very excited but quickly noticed the drawings are beautiful but just not same style and we prefer MinaLima, the pop ups are more open ups. I seriously wonder if they wouldn't pay MinaLima and a lot of these ideas are preparatory and simply can't be used. But for me I just felt ripped off the first books have at least 5 7 pop ups and this book has around the same but is much longer, that's the whole point! we already own all the books if they don;t have those cool features what's the point? so I gave it a 4 but my daughter who reads it and is the fan said 3 stars all the way, that's sad. We treasure the first 3, maybe if the others continue we will buy at deep discount or not at all.
First things first:I thought this book was supposed to be made by Mina Lima, the famous creator of the first three illustrated books of the Harry Potter series. To my surprise this book was created by Karl James Mountford, an edited by Headcase Designs.Overall, I like the design itself, but the three dimensional illustrations and features are not as intricate as the first three book. Although, overall, it is a well crafted and created book.Overall, the book has a different color palette with much more vivid colorand feel, yet I think the effects on the reader will be satisfying and engaging.I’m looking forward to reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire one more time.
Not as nice as the Minalima predecessors. I have all four of this series now. The art is pretty in this one but the attention to detail is far less. The 3 previous books have so many additions (as well as beautiful artwork), this book has minimal by comparison. I hope their future endeavors take the time to meet the previous standards set by Minalima. It will be an amazing book series if they step it up.
