Hollow Bones

Once again Jodi Picoult has incorporated recent news about postpartum depression and realCharacters into a compelling novel that is had to put down. Woven expertly from different points of view, the reader gets a 360 view of a woman’s struggle of a little-known condition. I was amazed at how common this condition is and the general lack of knowledge and understanding among health care professionals can further damage the mother’s struggle to recover. Well done Jodi!

I love the writings of this author and I ordered this book before it even came out. Every time I put this book down to actually get something done, I couldn't wait to pick it back up again. It's just an incredible read and I highly recommend it!

For me hollow bones had a slow start. I couldn’t figure out where we were going. It was a nice family story but not the usual Picoult. Then it picked up and the middle was more exciting however it was not as jolting as her books generally are. Still liked it. Just not as unpredictable as usual.

Perfect for today’s concerns. It is hard to put into words how excellent this book was for me. I think it is an important subject to know about. I was enthralled by every character and it was just so reflective on women’s mental and physical health, forgiveness and grief.

If you are already a fan of my all time #1 favorite author, I can assure you that this intriguing book will not disappoint.If you haven’t read any of her books yet- you will soon have a too be read pile of books with her name on each book that will keep you entertained and thinking for a very long time. Because Jodi Picoult doesn’t just write a compelling story- although she most certainly does do that- she has the courage and integrity to accept challenging topics to thoroughly research. Then she casts her spell on the reader, catching us in a story that keeps one reading long after a reasonable bedtime.“Hollow Bones” is a story about Sept. 11, 2001, from the view point of severalfictional characters who were directly affected from this tragic attack. These characters will quickly become very real people who you will carry in your heart for a long time. In fact, some of them you might have met in an earlier book.It also does a deep dive into PPP - Postpartum Psychosis. By authentically portraying a woman who experiences PPP and is misdiagnosed when begging for help, it engages the reader into feeling empathy and desperation for this new mother.This book is about family and friendship and kind and gentle love. It is about misuse of power and shocking abuse. It also is about imperfect people who make huge mistakes when trying to do the right thing.I savored this book for as long as I could make it last, and now will have a book hangover, unable to start a new one after reading one so engaging.Perhaps I’ll read an old book written by Jodi Picoult that I first read years ago.I think I have the perfect book in mind.
