The book came undamaged and quickly, which was nice. The story itself fell a little bit flat for me personally. I found myself becoming annoyed with Yael rather quickly in the narrative and didn't see why the two love interests would be into each other beyond childhood crushes and nostalgia... Not the greatest impression to have in a romance novel. The subplot was honestly much more interesting and the twist near the end about the potion was great, in my opinion. I would have loved more of that, and for that to be the main plot over the romance. However, I still think that it's a cute read.
This book was a bit of a random wild card pick for me to be honest but Iβm so glad I did!Itβs a very cosy, magical and interesting story with lots of high fantasy elements. It did at parts feel slightly clunky to me but overall was an enjoyable read. Some of my favourite elements were the description of all the outfits especially some of Yaelβs suits, which just add to the rich dreamy world being created. The sirβram reference was something new to me I really liked that too.Overall I would recommend this book and would definitely read more about Bloomfield and itβs inhabitants.
Yael Clauneck is wealthy and from an influential family. They are also what is now called non-binary. Margot is a childhood friend of theirs, and when they embark on an adventure, it is pure luck that they find Margot.Everything Margot has belongs to the Clauneck family. This is an innocent romance with parts which are anything but. I still struggle with plural pronouns being used for individuals, but this story is so charming, it was worth the effort.
