Frances Adams always said she'd be murdered. She was right.
In 1965, Frances Adams is at an English country fair where a fortune-teller makes a bone-chilling prediction: One day, Frances will be murdered. It is a prediction that sparks her life's work--trying to solve a crime that hasn't happened yet.
Nearly sixty years later, Annie Adams is summoned to a meeting at the sprawling country estate of her wealthy and reclusive great-aunt Frances. But by the time Annie arrives in the quaint English village of Castle Knoll, Frances is found murdered, just like she always said she would be. Annie is determined to catch the killer, but thanks to Frances's lifelong habit of digging up secrets and lies, it seems every endearing and eccentric villager might just have a motive for her murder.
Can Annie safely unravel the dark mystery at the heart of Castle Knoll, or will dredging up the past throw her into the path of a killer? As Annie gets closer to the truth, and closer to danger, she starts to fear she might inherit her aunt's fate instead of her fortune.

I never would have guessed how it all came together. And made so much sense. I started to feel like I was a part of the story.
This is the first book I have read by this author. Annie Adams, an aspiring mystery writer, and the great-niece of Frances. She is invited to Frances' estate in the countryside for the changing of her will. Unfortunately, Frances is murdered and according to the stipulations of the will, whoever solves the murder within a week time frame claims the entire inheritance. Annie soon realizes that Frances had her palm read by a fortune teller as a teenager, and as a result, she believes that her own death had been foretold. Thus, she has spent her entire life attempting to prevent her predicted murder by collecting information on the people of Castle Knoll. I enjoyed reading this book while trying to solve the murder. Additionally, I liked the diary entries that are mixed with Annie's investigation. They are key to understanding Frances' state of mind, the complex relationship Frances has with Emily and Rose, and the events leading up to Emily's disappearance, which are later tied to Frances' murder.
To anyone who is a mystery fan and looking for a whodunnit this is what you need to be reading! If you love Agatha Christie and more specifically, And Then There Were None, this is the book for you! Look no further, this is that book. I haven't had a reading experience quite like this and it's very unique. Just read it!
I read it fast in two days and it was a fine read. Smart dialogue. A classic who-dun-it. Lotsa of plausible characters from which to pick and choose.
Loved this book! Will be getting to second one
