3.5 stars - i definitely enjoyed this, having started my holiday reads early because i never actually read christmas-themed books when it’s christmas. i’m glad i picked it up! it was cute
I’ve never read that book so it is a reference but it how I feel about this story. Because it’s two people living lives in different places and it’s switching places that allows them to get some perspective. I wasn’t sure where this was going (cause I don’t read blurbs) but I thought it was a sapphic holiday romance, it was that and so much more. Just not in the way I assumed. It starts off a touch slow, but once it gets going it’s such a heartwarming read. The friends, the relationships, the holiday spirit, the character development. Once Bee and Clover both decided to embrace what they were each experiencing I couldn’t put this down! First read in a while that’s has me burning the midnight oil.
A cute lil romance. Definitely felt rushed towards the end and the epilogue doesn’t really give much on what happens next for the couples. Overall it’s a good read, I just wish there was more
I’ll Be Gone for Christmas has all the makings of a warm holiday rom-com: a charming house-swap premise, small-town Christmas vibes, and two parallel love stories. It’s a quick, cozy read that’s perfect for getting into the holiday spirit, but I couldn’t help feeling like it needed just a bit more time to shine. The story felt like it skipped over some much-needed relationship development. The last four chapters packed in all the drama and resolution, leaving me wondering how these couples were planning to make long-distance work. That said, the cozy vibes were on point, and I really enjoyed spending time in both Salem and San Francisco. If you’re looking for a light, festive escape, this is a fun one to curl up with—just don’t expect all the details to be tied up in a perfect bow.Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a review copy of this book.
How does this only have 79 reviews? I'll Be Gone For Christmas is one of my favorite Christmas reads this year, and I have not stopped recommending it since I finished it. This one is perfect for fans of the movie The Holiday; two young ladies need a break from their lives and house swap at Christmas. One goes to small town Ohio and the other to San Francisco, both find exactly what they are looking for. There is found family, grumpy/sunshine, and Sapphic representation and great from start to finish!
