This witty, slow-burn rom-com is the "ideal beach read." --Elle
Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it's now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They'll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other's out, and they'll both go on to find the love of their lives. It's a bonkers idea... and it just might work.
Emma hadn't planned that her next assignment as a traveling nurse would be in Minnesota, but she and her best friend agree that dating Justin is too good of an opportunity to pass up, especially when they get to rent an adorable cottage on a private island on Lake Minnetonka.
It's supposed to be a quick fling, just for the summer. But when Emma's toxic mother shows up and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they're suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected--including catching real feelings for each other. What if this time Fate has actually brought the perfect pair together?

Honestly, incredibly written. This is worth every second, the story is fully dimensional with the characters and story line. Itβs realistic and fun, it feels human (does that make sense? Lol). Loved this so much as I also have a similar situation as the MMC Justin with my siblings so it was especially heart warming. Thank you Abby Jimenez!!
The title doesn't fit the book but it is a good summer read. The storyline is refreshingly unique where Jimenez grabs the reader right from the first page. The editor's subject "sensitivity warning" before the first chapter was unnecessary. I kept expecting to reach a disturbing "sensitive" area but the subjects referenced were very homogenized and not note worthy. The two main characters Emma and Justin are well developed and I rooted for them both. However, the later part of the book wanned in parts. By the middle of the second half of the book, Emma's issues were too repetitive and annoying at times. The last quarter of the book was not as expected. It was almost as though Jimenez lost interest in writing and wrapped up the story too easily in too few pages. Overall it was a good and fast read. I recommend it for those looking for something engaging and different. Jimenez is a good writer and will be reading another one of her books soon.
Very cute read. I liked the interactions between the main characters and their individual story lines. I wish there was more of them happy together at the end. I know we got the AITA post but it would have been nice to have some epilogue where we could read the HEA. Low spice but there was some.
Letβs just talk about how it is so interesting with the AITA question in the beginning and then like of them having a similar pass with relationship relationships thatβs super cute. I jumped into this and then it hit a wall where I was like bro come on letβs pick up the pace and then it gets really good again with like the drama going on in his life her mom showing up and then you know trying toresolve issues , and it was really cool to see how the plot twist twisted me up inside. I literally like freaked out and like read it out loud to my husband because I was like what the heck is happening.????Oh no, this book was a good read. I wonβt read it again. I donβt know if Iβd even recommend it, but the last 30% of the book was worth it.
Oh, man. Abby is such a genius, for real. Every single one of her books that I've read is phenomenal and this one is no exception. I loved the premise and I respect the heck out of Abby for delving into such serious topics, but also keeping me laughing through countless scenes. Her Easter eggs from other books are next-level and I had so much fun with them reminding me of previous characters and details. It was like catching up with old friends again and again.Emma...I just really want to give this girl a hug. I can't even begin to understand the loneliness and despair she's spent most of her life trapped in. It's honestly a miracle that she was able to cope at all. Her arc was simply incredible and her bestie relationship with Maddy is one the best I've ever read.Justin...I'm going to be honest. I have a brother named Justin so it took me a while to get past that. π But after I did...What in the golden retriever and cinnamon roll goodness is this guy?! The way Justin loved Emma was just so incredibly beautiful. It made me cry multiple times. Justin is an incredible human being...from his friendships to stepping up to care for his siblings to absolutely cherishing Emma. WHAT. A.
