In this new novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The House of Eve, one American woman's vision in post WWII Germany will tie together three people in an unexpected way.
Ethel Gathers, the proud wife of an American Officer, is living in Occupied Germany in the 1950s. After discovering a local orphanage filled with the abandoned mixed-race children of German women and Black American GI's, Ethel feels compelled to help find these children homes.
Philadelphia born Ozzie Phillips volunteers for the recently desegregated army in 1948, eager to make his mark in the world. While serving in Manheim, Germany, he meets a local woman, Jelka, and the two embark on a relationship that will impact their lives forever.
In 1965 Maryland, Sophia Clark is given an opportunity to attend a prestigious all white boarding school and escape her heartless parents. While at the school, she discovers a secret that upends her world and sends her on a quest to unravel her own identity.
Toggling between the lives of these three individuals, Keeper of Lost Children explores how one woman's vision will change the course of countless lives, and demonstrates that love in its myriad of forms--familial, parental, and forbidden, even love of self--can be transcendent.

The over night was fabulous!
I enjoyed this book. It took a bit of patience to let the author lead me through the book. A lot of time was spent learning about the characters in the story, which makes sense. I was too busy trying to hurry up and find out about the children.
This book kept me on a roller coaster ride from beginning to end. I cried all the happy tears, and I cried all the sad tears and all the time I hungered for the next page in the next chapter. I probably could’ve stayed up and read this book all in one night it was so entertaining. I highly recommended to lovers of historical history and the stories that they share with us today.
Mrs. Johnson did not disappoint with this one! All I can say is Wow! I thought I wanted more, but this was enough! I look forward to what's next.
If you want to learn a little known piece of history, this is a must read. A negro woman, Ethel, living on an Army base post WW Two champions the plight of a large number of orphaned children, the product of German women and American negro soldiers born out of wedlock. The majority ended up under the care of Catholic nuns. Ethel, unable to have children of her own oversees the adoption of these mixed race children to American families. From there a story unfolds that is heartwarming and heart wrenching! I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it
