After what seems like a routine murder investigation, LAPD Detective Harry Bosch finds himself in Hong Kong facing the highest-stakes case of his life: bringing his kidnapped daughter home.
Fortune Liquors is a small shop in a tough South L.A. neighborhood, a store Bosch has known for years. The murder of John Li, the store's owner, hits Bosch hard, and he promises Li's family that he'll find the killer.
The world Bosch steps into next is unknown territory. He brings in a detective from the Asian Gang Unit for help with translation -- not just of languages but also of the cultural norms and expectations that guided Li's life. He uncovers a link to a Hong Kong triad, a lethal and far-reaching crime ring that follows many immigrants to their new lives in the U.S.
And instantly his world explodes. The one good thing in Bosch's life, the person he holds most dear, is taken from him and Bosch travels to Hong Kong in an all-or-nothing bid to regain what he's lost. In a place known as Nine Dragons, as the city's Hungry Ghosts festival burns around him, Bosch puts aside everything he knows and risks everything he has in a desperate bid to outmatch the triad's ferocity.

I have been looking for this book for a couple of years. Finding it on Amazon. Great read and filled in missing history of Bosch.
Book was in fine condition, clean and no ripped/wrinkled pages. Delivery was timely. Will definitely be a future customer.
What a wildly suspenseful stunner this book 14 of the Harry Bosch series is! The international intrigue that enveloped a good portion of the storyline in this book kept it exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next and unable to put the book down. All these twists and turns the story took only to find out at the ending that not everything was concluding the way it was expected and took tantalizing turns even at the ending to stun me yet again. Powerful writing for intrigue and suspense and I can absolutely see where this particular book in the Bosch series would play out very well in the Harry Bosch tv series. I enjoyed the drawing together of a deeper connection between Bosch and his daughter as well and the painful, sorrowful, heartbreaking way they ended up coming together with a great loss in both their lives. It was definitely heart racing suspense that played out when Bosch had to travel overseas on his mission that had hit so close to home and then to find out toward the end the reasons why he was drawn into going there in the first place just blew my mind at the ending because of the weight of the guilt that his daughter would now carry because of her decisions. It’s nice seeing this loving side of Bosch with his daughter in contrast to his rough and rugged personality we all have come to know so well and love. Connelly wrote this book in the series with very deep emotions and depth within his research that brought it all to life so beautifully. I thoroughly enjoy this book series and highly recommend it to my fellow book lovers who enjoy well written intrigue, suspense and mystery. I honestly cannot recommend the series enough. Bravo once again, Mr. Connelly! Cheers!
The novel is fine...the Doubleday large print book is the ugliest book I've seen in a long time...ugly font, ugly format and ugly paper.
Tense, evolutions, inevitable ending I suppose. harry cannot catch a break. True situations, evil villains, Harry depends on friends and new acquaintances.
