Great read!!!
Highly recommend, especially for football lovers.
Great book
Kirk Herbstreit is the new John Madden. He makes any football game more interesting. I knew he had been to Ohio State on a football scholarship, but didn't realize what an ordeal that had been; he didn't get the starting job until his senior year, didn't even travel with the team until his junior year! He was a high school phenomenon, a five-star recruit, but as he was about to graduate Ohio State changed coaches to one who focused on passing. Herbstreit was a passer, too, but primarily a runner. Thus, Kirk got shelved. Getting back to his TV gigs, he definitely knows the game and can speak to many of them in detail on his pregame show. Then he's off to another part of the country to do the color part of whatever game is hottest that weekend. How he can fit all that information into his head and do it every weekend is beyond me, but it's fun to watch. This book will give you some insight into what makes Kirk Herbstreit tick. I loved it and bought copies for my stepson and son-in-law. I know they'll love it, too, and so will you.
As a College Game Day aficionado I was enthralled by the behind the scenes revelations about that iconic pregame show. The book is much more than that. It is a well presented autobiography of Herbsteit with an underlying background story of a broken family. All of that though takes a backseat to the Gameday recollections. I can’t wait until September to enjoy my college football morning Saturdays even more.
