From New York Times bestselling author Brian Freeman, Photograph is an emotional cold case mystery of hidden identities and startling twists--perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, Mary Kubica, and Freida McFadden.
Shannon Wells is a private investigator who helps women with nowhere else to go. Last year, a woman named Faith Selby came to Shannon with a strange request: Find out who I really am.
Shannon soon discovered that Faith was hiding a whole other life, but was unable to penetrate the web of mystery the woman had built around her past. Now Faith is dead. The only clue to who she was and why she was murdered is an old photograph of a little girl in the rain outside a Midwestern motel.
The hunt for answers takes Shannon from the hot beaches of Florida to a remote small town in Michigan as she peels away layer after layer of a shocking cold case that has rippled violently into the present. With each secret she uncovers, the danger around her grows--and forces Shannon to confront the demons hiding in her own past.

This was truly a great read. Great story. Interesting to us and turns. Very different. I really really enjoyed reading it. I think I’ve read every book he’s written and this is definitely one of the best.
Brian Freeman is one of my favorite authors and this is one of his best! Lot’s of “I didn’t see that coming” up to the very end!
PHOTOGRAPH is Brian Freeman’s new standalone, which features a young, female PI from Florida whose personal relationship with her father is strained. (He will play a significant role in the plot to follow.)The case is a tad convoluted. It involves several earlier murders which may or may not be related. These occurred in Michigan. When a photograph surfaces concerning one of the murders there the case(s) come back to life. Ultimately, the PI will discover that she has a personal relationship to these cases, either directly or tangentially.BF is a very inventive and imaginative writer and he often toys with the supernatural/metaphysical. He does so here as well, and we get into the subject of past lives, the possibility of reincarnation, and so on. This plot line jostles with the straightforward investigative plot line. While things do become convoluted, as earlier noted, and the ultimate villain is fairly easily inferred, the story remains engaging, the characters interesting and generally attractive, and the setting (as always with BF) very nicely realized.I would describe the overall story(ies) as quirky but that is one of the features of BF’s fiction, of which I am always fond.Five stars, but be prepared for something out of the ordinary.
Brian Freeman is one of my favorite authors. I purchased all his books and they never disappoint. Thought I had this mystery figured out, but as usual, I was wrong. Waiting for his next book!
Couldn’t put it down! Full of Freeman surprises! A realPage Turner! Thanks for another thrill ride Brian!!! You’re the best!
