I've had 2 of theses on pre order since June, as my husband and coworker LOVE the NYT word games on the app. So thought this could be a cute/fun gift for them. So was really happy with the purchase when my husband opened, and the book hasn't been closed since. It just lives on the counter where he works on puzzles throughout the day to give himself little breaks from work. When I brought to work and coworker opened, it was evident by the excitment and hugs that she felt similar. So if you are on the fence, just do it. The thing is huge, and getting folks off their phones is such a win.
A very well formatted puzzle book, with various different types of puzzles for different audiences. A similar feel and difficulty to the puzzles in the app, but amped up a bit. Much like the app there various USA-specific bits, but overall would make a very decent gift
There are aeveral misprints in this book. For example an entire row of boxes is missing from the “Cascades Puzzle” on page 124. This makes it impossible to complete the puzzle. Very disappointing for those who hoped to solve these puzzles without looking at the answer key. (The key has the appropriate number of rows).
I bought Puzzle Mania for a little brain break and got totally hooked. The puzzles are clever, surprising, and super satisfying — you get that little dopamine hit every time you solve one. I loved it so much I immediately ordered more as gifts. It’s one of those rare, no-fail presents that works for everyone.
This puzzle book is an absolute gem. Joel Fagliano has a talent for creating puzzles that are both mentally stimulating and incredibly enjoyable. I never felt bored or overwhelmed, the variety and pacing are spot on. Some puzzles made me think hard, others made me smile with “aha!” moments. It’s rare to find a collection that feels this polished and satisfying. I can't recommend it enough to anyone who loves wordplay and logic.
