Walt Longmire is back after the escapades of First Frost and encounters one of his most baffling cases in Wyoming's brutal and unforgiving Red Desert.
When Blair McGowan, the mail person with the longest postal route in the country of over three hundred mile a day, goes missing the question becomes--where do you look for her? The Postal Inspector for the State of Wyoming elicits Sheriff Longmire to mount an investigation into her disappearance and Walt does everything but mail it in; posing as a letter-carrier himself, the good sheriff follows her trail and finds himself enveloped in the intrigue of an otherworldly cult.
Packed to the brim with twists and turns, the 21st novel in the New York Times bestselling Longmire series pushes Walt to his absolute limits, forcing him to wrestle with the impossible question: What good are your morals, if you're marked for the dead letter office?

I really enjoyed this book. I always enjoy Craig Johnson’s books. Was a little mixed up with the beginning of it. It was wild and crazy but immediately when a sheriff was needed, it made sense. But if you like it, it kept up with all of his books on Longmire, you will like this one too. Mr. JOHNSON, please keep telling us about Longmire. You’ve got a great character here and you’re a character yourself. Thank you very much.
I love how we get a travelogue with the mystery. And that tge good guy wins. Classic CraigJohnson fun
A new part of Wyoming expertly laid out. New crazies to deal with and that dogged black and white ethic of Walt's that we have come to know, love, and question. A mere resting point for what is to come.
Loved it as I knew I would. Having been born and raised in Wyoming a 4th generation native who worked his way through the UW in the oil and coal fields of the powder river basin. I find, though surprising, as a Pilgrim Craig Johnson captures the people flavor, color and spirit of Wyoming like no other. My hat is truly off to him and it has been for a long time. Thank you Craig Johnson
Walt takes a job as postman in a desert community while searching for a woman who disappeared. Meanwhile, Cody may be appointed to attorney general of Wyoming -- if only Walt will retire. His old Sharp's rifle comes in handy when he is faced with scoundrels hiding as a religious group. How many graves have they dug out in the desert.
