From New York Times bestselling author Meghan Quinn comes a new laugh-out-loud summer rom-com.
He clicked "yes" on a dare. She bought a failing candy shop. Now they're neighbors for the summer--and neither is ready for what comes next.
Renley Gossage has one shot to prove she's more than Cape Meril's favorite cautionary tale: restore her favorite candy shop before the town writes her off like they did her father. No help, no shortcuts, and definitely no rich men wielding engagement rings and making things messy.
Theo Williams never planned on ending up in Cape Meril. A drunken game of truth or dare turned into a botched online engagement, and now he's across the ocean, escaping his father's control with nothing but designer shoes, misplaced confidence, and a rental next door to Renley.
She's practical, stubborn, and covered in paint. He's posh, persistent, and willing to use a sander if it means earning her trust.
Between collapsing drywall, gossiping neighbors, and the chaotic schemes of Renley's aunt, their forced proximity turns into something dangerously close to real.
But Renley's future depends on standing on her own two feet, and Theo's past isn't done with him yet. By the time the candy shop doors open, they'll have to decide if this is just a summer fling--or the happily ever after neither of them saw coming.

Rules For The Summer by Meghan Quinn is a romcom you’ll want to pack in your bag to read by the pool or beach this summer. You also can’t go wrong with the audiobook narrated in duet by Stella Hunter and Shane East with Melissa Metcalf and Gary Furlong as the side characters. They were perfectly cast and had me laughing out loud as the characters found themselves in even more ridiculous situations. The dynamic between Theo and Renley was so entertaining. I loved their game of Truth or Dare. Once they started falling for the other, they did not hold back on their spicy times. Not only do we get the delicious tension and chemistry between Theo and Renley, but we also get a front row seat to Theo and Rupert’s friendship and their amazing banter as well as the amusing dynamic between Rupert and Renley’s aunt.* Mix up Meet Cute* Small Town Romance* Neighbors* Forced Proximity* A list of rules* Opposites Attract* He Falls FirstPick this one up if you are looking for a fun, light-hearted romcom with plenty of spice.
Rules for the Summer by Meghan Quinn was the perfect mix of hilarious, emotional, and ridiculously swoony. Meghan Quinn never misses when it comes to romantic comedy, and this book had me smiling from beginning to end.The banter between the characters was absolute perfection — witty, flirty, and laugh-out-loud funny. But underneath all the humor was a genuinely heartfelt story filled with chemistry, tension, vulnerability, and so much charm. The slow burn was done so well, and every interaction made me fall harder for the characters. What I loved most was how effortlessly Meghan Quinn balanced comedy with emotional depth. One minute I was laughing out loud, and the next my heart was aching for them. The romance felt authentic, addictive, and completely unforgettable. If you love summer romance, amazing chemistry, hilarious dialogue, and characters you can’t stop thinking about, Rules for the Summer is an absolute must-read. Typical Meghan Quinn laugh out loud fun! There is no author on this planet who can make me laugh out loud while reading book the way Meghan Quinn can. This is such a perfect summer read with such a fun cast of characters, dirty humor, and healthy communication between our main characters! I need a sequel of Aunt Kitty and Rupert ASAP.
Fun, entertaining, romantic with some spice. Nicely developed characters. Theo and Renley are made for eavh other. As for the candy store idea ... I thought it was great. Because who doesn't want a candy store.
Renley thinks she is looking for financers when she signs up for a fiance app. Theo thinks he has found the one he can marry. Both have had lives that have them being who they are to survive. Theo proposes marriage and Renley actually realizes her mistake. They build a beautiful friendship to help each other out. It's beautiful to see how both grow in their relationship and fall in love. A great read.
