A new page-turning thriller from USA Today bestselling author David Bell.
When a girl disappears, who do you suspect?
When 17-year-old Hunter Gifford wakes in the hospital on the night of homecoming, he's shocked to learn he and his girlfriend, Chloe Summers, have been in a terrible car accident. Hunter has no memory of the crash, and his shock turns to horror when he is told Chloe's blood has been found in the car--but she has disappeared.
Back at school, his fellow students taunt him, and his former best friend starts making a true-crime documentary about the case--one that points the finger directly at Hunter. And just when things can't get any worse, Chloe's mother stands in front of the entire town at a candlelight vigil and accuses Hunter of murder.
Under mounting pressure from the police, Hunter takes matters into his own hands by questioning anyone who might know the truth and posting videos to prove his innocence. When Hunter learns he and Chloe were seen arguing loudly outside the dance, he faces a sickening possibility. Was he angry enough to kill the person he loved?

Let me preface with, I do like a lot this author’s works. However, this one fell short for me. It did have a very big unexpected twist. I thought I had it figured out fairly early on but I was definitely wrong. Therein lies part of the problem though. The twist was a let down for me. It just didn’t find it very believable. SPOILER AlERT* SPOILER ALERT* As a parent, the actions of both parents in this story just weren’t fathomable to me. It just had me scratching my head and made for a poor ending. Overall, the book was fairly well written but the ending ruined it for me.
Not bad, good twist but good lord 2D characters abound in here. Wish there was more background, more personality to the characters.
The idea of this book was great, but there were times where I would get annoyed with the main character that I would just put it down and stop for the day. It had really good moments, but then would slow down and get boring.
The ending is good, I didn’t see it coming. However, throughout the whole book it seemed played out. It felt like every other high school based YA thriller. It is very fast paced, short chapters, and to the point. Would make a great palate cleanser between different genres.
I buy books for my high school classroom. I have some students that like mysteries- so this book has been a hit!
