He was mine to protect. Mine to adore. Mine to lose forever.
*A scorchingly hot modern retelling of Poseidon and Icarus.*
Icarus may not have flown particularly close to the sun, but he has fallen...right into the rough hands of Olympus's own Poseidon. Being held captive by the gentle giant wouldn't be so bad if Olympus wasn't on the eve of destruction...or if Poseidon stopped looking at him with those irresistibly stormy eyes.
Poseidon doesn't have time to babysit his increasingly bratty prisoner, but he has no choice: Olympus is officially at war, and someone has to keep their best bargaining chip out of harm's way. The thing is, the longer Poseidon is with Icarus, the more he starts to care for his sworn enemy...and the more he realizes that Icarus isn't the villain he's been made out to be. There's a warmth to him, a vulnerability, that Poseidon finds difficult to ignore or deny.
Now with Circe and the Aeaens at the gate and Olympus a hair's breadth away from falling, Poseidon will have to make a difficult choice: about himself, about his allegiances, and about the man who woke his heart from its long slumber only to threaten to break it for good...

This authors books feel similarly to when you put friends on in the background. Comforting, and while fun, easy to glaze out and listen to.I dont feel particularly attached to these two but they did have a really sweet ending.
Katee is my favorite author. I can’t get enough of her stories. The facts that she connects characters from each book keeps me reading.
I can’t stop cryingThis was such an emotional read for meMy favorite in the series for surePoseidon and Icarus’ characters will stay in my heart foreverPoseidon is so pure and full of love. Icarus is so broken and beat down by the world he has lived in.Omg the pure, raw way in which these 2 characters love one another is so beautiful. My heart is so fullThe way this book ends has me in tears 😭 I’m quite the sobbing mess
Roberts has written yet another amazing Dark Olympus novel! As a romance, I really enjoyed how the relationship developed between Icarus and Poseidon. I love how Roberts writes non-stereotypical relationships that also deal with the depth of character and emotion. I feel all the feels with every book they write. What drew my attention the most in this book was the plot. I have kept up with the books the Dark Olympus ever since Neon Gods had me in a chokehold with Persephone and Hades. This book continues that over-arching plot, which is great but because of it I would say that you can't quite enjoy it as much without having read some of the prior novels. At the very least Dark Restraint (Book #7). As a fan of Mythology this series has been one of my favorites in how it uses mythology for it's foundation but Roberts creates unique works every time so I can't wait to read more.

But seriously, these two stole my heart 🥹Yes, there was smut (obviously), but like the rest of the series, the story is very much plot-driven. What really got me, though, was the vulnerability between these two. I did not expect Poseidon to be such a big softie, but he was—an absolute soul-match for Icarus, helping him see his own worth and that life doesn’t have to be purely transactional. We’re creeping toward the end of the series, and things are getting delightfully unhinged. Hera—as always—was a whole situation. I love her, I hate her, and I cannot wait for her and Zeus’s book later this year. And speaking of Zeus, this is the first time we really get to see him lose his damn mind, which means there’s definitely some fire hiding under all that cool, calculated stoicism. I’m ready for the spice 😏
