Fun story but could be more fun!

Bad summary: Woman wandering around the jungle finally stumbles into love.Read for🌺 Archaeology shenanigans🌺 Amazonian jungle🌺 Secrets and mysteries🌺 Workplace romance🌺 Women in STEMJo Segura continues her Indiana Jones-named but not really themed adventure rom-coms with Temple of Swoon. It’s a cute story that follows the FMC archaeologist in her efforts to carry on the legacy of the FMC in the previous book and make a notable archaeological discovery of her own.The MMC is a photographer/journalist who is trying to foil her… which yeah, leads to some tensions of the good and bad variety. The story is fun if you don’t think too much about it. The plot doesn’t really make sense (do real archaeologists just wander around the jungle for weeks hoping to stumble on discoveries?), and in real life, the FMC would hopefully take the intentional and significant sabotage of her career by her love interest more seriously.Like the previous book, I just really wanted more actual adventure. Where’s the temple full of booby traps? The priests performing scary rituals? The FMC rescuing the MMC from ritual sacrifice? If you’re going for ridiculous adventure romcom based on Jones, go all the way!The spice was spicing though, and it’s overall just a fun read. Would be great to take along on a trip to the beach, or the Amazonian jungle.

Romance, Adventure, A Lost City, and A Seriously Underestimated Female Archeologist

This was such a fun and highly entertaining book.I loved that Miri is someone who knows her own mind, is hilarious, and is seriously underestimated as an archeologist. She wants to be recognized for her hard work, but she's also someone with integrity and cares a lot about the preservation of artifacts.Rafa has his own reasons for being on the team to possibly find a lost city, and thiugh he does things to mess up the expedition, his heart is in the right place.I enjoyed watching Rafa and Miri's relationship develop, which was funny, sweet, and smutty. There was a twist at the end that I didn't see coming nor make the connection between two seemingly completely different people.I really hope I'll get glimpses of Miri and Rafa in the future!

Good follow up

✨📚 Temple of Swoon by Jo Segura totally lived up to the name—and then some! If you loved Raiders of the Lost Heart, this follow-up is such a treat. There are some super fun callbacks that made me feel like I was in on a secret, and I loved getting more of Miriam being her brilliant, stubborn, hilariously sharp self. 🗺️💫Miriam absolutely shines in this one—her banter is still elite, and I just love how unapologetically confident and capable she is. And Rafael? Their dynamic is everything. He’s thoughtful, grounded, and a perfect balance to Miriam’s fire. Watching them work together (and bicker, obviously) in the lush, high-stakes setting of Brazil was such a ride. 🌿📖Temple of Swoon is adventurous, witty, and packed with heart. It’s got the perfect blend of tension, humor, and emotional depth, without ever losing that romcom sparkle. If you’re into archaeology, banter, and a heroine who owns every scene she’s in, this one’s a must-read! 💕

Loved this adventure romance!

This book was so fun! I was a little hesitant to start it bc while I loved a lot of her first book I hated How mysognistic the mmc was but I’m so glad I read it. Rafa is nothing like Ford. I love a good adventure romance and archeology is my jam (it’s what my degree is in albeit I don’t use it nowadays) and this one had all the fun elements of adventure fiction.Peter Vatrous is back trying to foil yet another dig, this time the search for a hidden city, and Dr Miriam Jones is out to prove her worth to her employers and herself. Then there’s Rafa who is there as a journalist but really there to make sure nobody ever finds the lost city. I didn’t love Rafa’s mission but I understood his reasoning, and I enjoyed Rafa and Miri together and the search for the lost city was so much fun.
