Destruction follows the ruthless serial killer, Jeremy Rose, the Bayou Butcher, as he heads north to evade capture for his horrific crimes. As he seeks safe harbor with a former friend, he remains focused on unfinished business with forensic pathologist Dr. Wren Muller, the only target who's ever escaped him-twice. But not this time. He's determined to make Wren suffer, and he's promised to make her play by his own twisted rules.
Still in shock over the harrowing encounter with her old nemesis, Wren is on forced medical leave in New Orleans, attempting to mend the deep scars of her traumatic past. But with growing evidence that Jeremy is leaving a fresh trail of mutilated victims across Massachusetts, Wren realizes the best way to heal is to renew her pursuit of this vicious killer. She sets her sights on Jeremy, only to discover that she may have walked directly into his trap. As their twisted cat-and-mouse game rachets up to a violent clash of good versus evil, Wren prepares to sacrifice everything to bring Jeremy to justice.
With intense true-to-life details from autopsy technician andΒ Morbid podcast cohost, Alaina Urquhart, The Butcher Game is a gripping addition to the New York Times bestselling Dr. Wren Muller series.

Love the book
So excited to read this sequel!
Another great one from my Favorite Weirdo podcaster! Very well done! The suspense is perfectly thought out. I am hoping for another one from Alaina. Keep it weird!
After reading the sequel Iβm convinced the author either doesnβt know what readers want or she doesnβt care. I picked up the first book at the airport for my summer vacation in 2023. I didnβt really like it but because it was left on a cliffhanger, I was left interested. I actually forgot the name of the book for my 2024 summer vacation and read something else. I kept wondering whatever happened to the characters and described the plot to ChatGPT which helped me find the sequel. Iβm about halfway through this one and I really donβt want to finish it. It looks like this one will end on another cliffhanger which isnβt awful but the author forces you to read about the antagonistβs sadistic killings every other chapter and doesnβt provide any satisfaction to the reader. In fact Iβm getting strong hints of an unwelcome tragedy at the end of this book. Iβm admittedly not a fiction writer but I think there are ways the author can communicate the brutality of the antagonist while also not crushing the soul of the reader. I dislike things being unfinished so I will likely complete the book but I will hopefully forget the title and wonβt be asking ChatGPT to remind me to help find the third book. If I could go back I wouldnβt have read the first. Once you read the first you get stuck in a loop that you donβt want to be in.So I finished the book and added a star. The ending of the book isnβt as bad as I anticipated. I donβt think I can bring myself to read the next but at least the ending was better than expected.
Such a great book! I love her books and her Podcast, so if you havenβt read or listened you are missing out!! Itβs a must!! By the way this book ended though are we getting a third book? It seems like we are now in curious!!!
