A down-on-her-luck woman makes a deal with a crafty demon to win back her ex-girlfriend after a proposal gone awry, only to discover the girl of her dreams might be the devil she knows, from nationally bestselling author Alexandria Bellefleur.
Samantha Cooper is having a day from hell.
In less than 24 hours, her life has unraveled, leaving her single and with nowhere to live. Adding insult to injury, she's trapped in an elevator with a gorgeous woman claiming to be a demon.
Daphne is not at all what Samantha expected from someone claiming to be an evil supernatural entity. She's pretty, witty, dressed in pink, and smells nice. And she's here to offer Samantha a deal she can't refuse. Six wishes in exchange for one tiny trade--Samantha's soul. There's a glaring loophole in their contract, one Samantha fully intends to exploit so she doesn't fork over her soul. After all, she only needs one wish to win her ex back.
Hell-bent to gather the last of the one thousand souls she needs so that she can be free of her own devilish deal, Daphne grants each of Samantha's wishes . . . with a twist, so that Samantha is forced to make another.
As Samantha's wishes dwindle and Daphne offers her glimpses into the life she thought she wanted, the unlikely pair grows close. Perhaps the girl of Samantha's dreams is actually the stuff of nightmares, but Samantha and Daphne will have to outsmart the Devil himself if they want a chance at happily ever after.

🌟Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💧Drip-o-Meter: 💦💧📚TLDR: great idea, meh execution, why was the forked tongue not a main character?, not the “must read” I expected💗Something I Loved: The premise hooked me right away (I mean, I literally begged Berkley for this). On the night of her failed engagement, Sam strikes a deal with a demon, Daphne—six wishes in exchange for her soul, all to win back her ex. Great setup, right? And some of it delivered: Sam’s growth (though slow) was satisfying, and I was proud when she finally saw her ex for the walking red flag she was. Daphne’s backstory was intriguing too, even if it felt underplayed. And the core message—be careful what you wish for—never goes out of style.🫤Something I Would Have Changed: Where. Was. The. Tension?! Instead of sparks and banter, I got Sam mooning over her dumpster-fire ex for 75% of the book then suddenly jumping from “huh, this demon’s pretty” to “I’m in love.” Hello whiplash, my old friend. The romance felt rushed, the banter too light, and honestly… I just wanted more. (Ironic, since one of my other notes was “repetitive.”)🥰Favorite Moment: The “Meet the Parents” scene with Sam and Daphne. Now that I’m thinking about it… where was this energy for the rest of the book?🌶️Spiciest Scene: Chapter 14. Meh. For a demon with a forked tongue, the heat level was criminally low. Like… why even give her one if you’re not gonna use it? A true tragedy.📚Standalone vs. Series: Standalone📖Would I Recommend: Maybe. I didn’t hate it, but for such a fun and unique premise, the execution felt flat. It did pick up in the last 20%, but overall, I walked away underwhelmed. Le sigh. Honestly, I’d say you could probably skip this one—it was fine, but just fine.💬Tropes: Opposites Attract, Morally Gray Love Interest, Slow Burn, Antagonists to Lovers, Hurt/Comfort, Forced Proximity, Forbidden Love, Demon Bargains, (Technical) Age Gap
I’m giving this one a 3.5 but rounding up.At first, I was really thrown off by the almost direct quotes from the movie Bedazzled (this one was a sexual awakening when I was younger, ok? lol) I was stunned that it wasn’t listed as being influential or the story inspired by the movie. It gave me the ick a little bit, but I kept reading because it’s such a cute story!I like how the characters develop and grow with each other. I was a little disappointed to discover that Daphne has a forked tongue and doesn’t *ahem* use it. I love how Samantha grows and develops a sense of self worth throughout all of her wishes.Overall, this is a good sapphic rom-com book that I enjoyed!
I must have been in a silly goofy mood because this worked really well for me. It's kind of corny. Definitely predictable. And I wanted to shake one of the FMCs the whole time for being dense and a try-hard. Pining over an ex that hard is not a cute look. But I loved it? I think it was a super fun slightly paranormal romcom and I loved the "you get six wishes but don't screw them up because I will take your wording literally and there will be unintended consequences"Less spice than expected but it's in there. Takes a while though. This was really easy to listen to on audio. Quite bingeable. Both voices worked even with just one narrator. I listened in two sessions at 1.8x
This is a fantastic captivating storyline, funny, sad, beautiful and heart breaking at times.BE CAREFUL FOR WHAT YOU WISH FOR! Then she used her last wish........😱However love always finds a way, and love always wins in the end. 💖
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Thanks so much to @berkleypub and @berkleyromance for the free book!A down-on-her-luck woman makes a deal with a crafty demon to win back her ex-girlfriend after a proposal gone awry, only to discover the girl of her dreams might be the devil she knows. This was everything I wanted it to be. It was genuinely adorable, and I love the whole concept of this book, with making a deal with the devil to get your very recent ex back, and falling for the demon instead is just perfect to me. I also love the concept of making wishes and how they inevitably don't turn out as you wanted them to, because if they did, where would the story be? I also love how Daphne misconstrued the wishes and developed as a character throughout the book. She was truly so fun to read about, and the way her relationship with Sam developed made me so happy. I also generally love a good sapphic romance, and this made me so happy. Sam and Daphne’s banter was so funny, and I loved every moment reading their story.🩷Paranormal Romance🩷Demon x Chef🩷Elevator Meet Cute🩷Sapphic🩷Deal with a Demon🩷Morally Grey Character
