Who hasn't wanted to murder an ex--figuratively, at least? In this explosive debut thriller, a woman's seemingly perfect romantic life is on the verge of collapse as she uncovers a hidden history surfacing dark secrets that have deadly consequences.
Natalie has only ever wanted to find "the one." The perfect man, the happy family she never had. But each time she thinks she is finally getting somewhere, she's bitterly disappointed. Another red line through a list of exes. And that was before the night of the Big Fallout that left her even more alone.
Then along comes James--wonderful, handsome James--and Natalie thinks her luck has finally turned. Maybe he's the one for her. Maybe he's the one she's been waiting for all along. Maybe he won't wind up dead.
But the harder Natalie tries to be a "normal" wife, the more world-upending truths are brought to her door, leaving her unsure of who she really is, and much less what she'll do . . . leaving her to question whether there is a monster within her or whether there is a villain toying with her from the outside.
What's the secret story behind Natalie's dead exes? Will she and James survive their marriage? And do either of them deserve to?

I listened to the audio version. The narrators’ voices made it hard for me to absorb the storyline in the beginning. The first half of the book was tiresome. I couldn’t wait to finish. The second half was a delightful treat for my perseverance. Once the pace increased, I wouldn’t stop until the end. It was thrilling and a refreshing change. I wish it didn’t take so long to get to the juicy stuff. Maybe it’s me, I guess I’m not a real fan of lengthy psychological thrillers. Reading the book might be the best way to go.
At the beginning, the reader learns Natalie has many exes that did not treat her the best, and to top that off, they have all died. Did she kill them? That is one of the questions the reader does not know. Now she’s married to James, who seems to be everything she’s ever wanted. He is kind, attractive, and stable. There are many different perspectives in this book. As the story continues, so does that tension, and one begins to wonder if Natalie has finally found “the one.” Will James meet the same fate the other exes faced? There are many twists in this book, and it certainly keeps the reader guessing.
This book was a slow start for me, but please don’t stop reading! The pace of this book picked up so fast after just a few chapters with a storyline so intense that I could not out this book down. So many twists that you won’t see coming!
Wonderful read with twists and turns. Characters were so engaging. I loved it!
This was an interesting book.Nat has 3 dead exes. But things look brighter for her as she finds James. New life. New start. Old stuff forgotten. But is it truly buried?I seriously thought I was going to give up on this book. In the first 100-150 I couldn’t see what the point was. All of her past was already revealed and her future seemed bright. Except she still feels this “anger”.One page after another, the author showed one more facet to Nat and her complicated past and her current story. This was one of the most thought provoking thrillers I’ve ever read. The twists weren’t really “twists”. They were just one more layer of the story to reveal. And you’re questioning who’s the bad guy and who’s the good guy. The answer is not simple.Genius plot and excellent writing.
