In horror movies, the final girls are the ones left standing when the credits roll. They made it through the worst night of their lives...but what happens after?
Like his bestselling novel The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires, Grady Hendrix's latest is a fast-paced, frightening, and wickedly humorous thriller. From chain saws to summer camp slayers, The Final Girl Support Group pays tribute to and slyly subverts our most popular horror films--movies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Scream.
Lynnette Tarkington is a real-life final girl who survived a massacre. For more than a decade, she's been meeting with five other final girls and their therapist in a support group for those who survived the unthinkable, working to put their lives back together. Then one woman misses a meeting, and their worst fears are realized--someone knows about the group and is determined to rip their lives apart again, piece by piece.
But the thing about final girls is that no matter how bad the odds, how dark the night, how sharp the knife, they will never, ever give up.

I’ll have to revisit this book another time. I was “saving” it for October and then it started to feel like a book I had to read rather than reading for pleasure. That made reading through it slow going but I enjoyed it.In many ways it was predictable (which fits with the slasher movie backdrop) but it had some clever twists that made it a good read!
Different in the best of ways, a truly thrilling read. Very short only took a day or two to finish.
This book was so enjoyable! The premise was very cleve and I found that the plot kept me on the edge of my seat. I finished the book in three days. Would highly recommend!
This support group needs new members..and maybe some coffee and donuts.
The 80s were the heyday of slasher movies. Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Jamie Lee Curtis in all her beautifully strong no-nonsense glory. Grady Hendrix has taken all of the tropes of those slasher flicks and turned then into a tribute to the final girls, the women who manage to survive against all odds and end the tyranny of the movie monster…at least until the sequel.
