A dark academia thriller about who is allowed to break the rules and who suffers the consequences, perfect for fans of Jessica Goodman and Holly Jackson.

The week before Luna's twin sister Solina was supposed to head back for her final semester at Kingswood Academy, an elite boarding school in the Washington mountains, she told Luna she was dropping out. When Luna refused to let her throw away her future, Solina disappeared.

Twelve hours later, she was dead.

Luna knows Solina's death wasn't an accident, even if the police say otherwise. There's a reason Solina didn't want to go back to Kingswood, and Luna knows she'll find the truth there. All she has to do is become Solina. Playing Solina comes easy, but finding answers is far from it. Between the cunning, cruel people Solina called her friends, Luna's budding feelings for her roommate Claudia, and the harsh realization that Solina had dark secrets, getting to the bottom of her sister's murder is more difficult than Luna could have ever anticipated. But when you have nothing left to lose, you're willing to do anything to get what you want. There's no limit to how far Luna will go to avenge her sister-even if she has to burn all of Kingswood to the ground.

I went into this book expecting a straightforward whodunit mystery in an academy setting and whilst there absolutely is a murder mystery there is also so much more to the story. The premise is heartbreaking with Luna’s twin sister dying in strange circumstances and Luna being desperate to find out what happened. Their history is emotionally charged and is written very well and the different paths the two sisters took are well explained and detailed without being too heavy. I definitely felt invested in Luna and felt all her emotions leaping off the page.I feel that there could have been more emphasis placed on the investigation Luna was doing, as in places that was almost forgotten and i feel more people in the school could have been looked into as suspects. There are so many social issues that are raised or covered in this book. racism, sexism and classism are all touched upon in varying places and give depth and make the story more relatable.Luna was a good main character, flawed, heartbroken, determined, reckless and lost. But Dede and Tiffany were hands down my favourite characters, (love a found family) and i think the LGBTQ+ representation was done really naturally.

Welcome to Kingswood

A gripping dark academia thriller that twists grief, identity, and revenge into a razor sharp narrative. Luna’s descent into Kingswood’s elite, filled with secrets, power games, and the haunting shadow of her twin sister, kept me hooked from page one. Perfect for fans of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and They Wish They Were Us, this book asks readers: What lines would you cross for the truth?

Dark academia mystery!

Thank you to Libro FM, Bloomsbury Publishing, and Elle Gonzalez Rose for the ALC of this book!I’ve read two dark YA academia mysteries back-to-back, and I’m having fun! This one is more contemporary, no fantasy shifts. I enjoyed the mystery - I didn’t know who was the biggest villain throughout the entire story. If you like morally gray MCs, this is the book for you!

Great for young readers that are getting into thrillers. I read this as an adult to see if my son who is 12 would like it. He likes horrors so thought I would see what he thought of this. Not sure it’s right for his age but I enjoyed it. Easy read for me and a real page turner.Good writing and I enjoyed it whilst on holiday recently. I don’t read enough so this got my taste for reading again.

Really enjoyed this mystery. It's a great YA that kept me reading late into the night. At just over 300 pages it's quite a quick read, but I never felt like the story was lacking. Overall would recommend for anyone looking for a good YA thriller!
