The Nightshade Crown is in the hands of a ruthless god and Lore will stop at nothing to defeat him in the final installment of this lush, romantic, New York Times bestselling fantasy series from breakout star Hannah Whitten.

Lore has failed. She couldn't save King Bastian from the rotten god speaking voices in his mind. She couldn't save her allies from being scattered across the continent--their own lesser gods whispering to them in their dreams. She couldn't save her beautiful, corrupt city from the dark power beneath the catacombs. And she couldn't save herself.

Banished to the Burnt Isles, Lore must use every skill she earned on the streets of Dellaire to survive the prison colony and figure out a way to defeat the power that's captured everything and everyone she holds dear. When a surprise ally joins her on the Burnt Isles she realizes the way forward may lie on the island itself. Somehow, her friends must help her collect the far-scattered pieces of the broken Fount--the source of all the god's powers--and bring them back together on the Burnt Isles, returning all magic to its source and destroying, once and for all, the gods corrupting the land.

But as Lore gets closer to her goal, her magic grows stronger... and to a woman who's always had to fight for survival, that kind of power may be hard to give up.

Lyrical and Haunting Read! Pick It up for Fall!

The Nightshade God is lush, gothic, and completely immersive—the kind of book that seeps into your bones while you’re reading. Hannah Whitten has this gift for weaving haunting prose with darkly beautiful imagery, and it absolutely shines here. From the very first page, I felt pulled into a world where shadows breathe, gods whisper, and power is both intoxicating and terrifying. The atmosphere is one of the strongest parts of this novel. Every description feels deliberate, painting a setting that’s eerie yet captivating. It’s the kind of gothic fantasy that doesn’t just build a world, but builds a mood. The tension simmers constantly, whether it’s between characters or in the looming presence of the divine.Character-wise, there’s so much to love. The protagonists are flawed, human, and often caught in the push and pull between duty, desire, and the weight of fate. I found myself especially drawn to the way Whitten explores vulnerability in the face of power—it makes the relationships, both romantic and otherwise, feel layered and alive. There are moments of tenderness tucked between the danger and darkness, which makes the emotional beats hit even harder. The themes of faith, sacrifice, and the dangerous allure of ambition are threaded seamlessly throughout the narrative. And while the story leans into its darker elements, there’s always this spark of hope that keeps the pages turning. It’s easy to get swept up in both the peril and the beauty of it all.Overall, this book delivers on every promise of gothic fantasy: lyrical writing, morally complex characters, and a story that feels as unpredictable as it is compelling. It’s not a light read—it asks you to sink into its shadows and linger there—but it’s deeply rewarding if you do.A beautiful, haunting tale that left me eager to see what Whitten creates next.

Perfect and Heartbreaking

I would love to give this book five stars. It's conclusion was perfect. I know there are some reviews that say some character's arcs did not get finished, but our MCs did, in a way even if it was heartbreaking. Other than that the plot was strong.SPOILERS!! Each one of the three MCs had their story finished in a way that fit the plot. Gabe's was tragic, seemed unfair and unnecessary but as Lore said, it was needed for her to be free from Apollyius and Gabe was always willing to sacrifice whatever he needed to for Lore and Bastian and he proved that there. Nyxara's ending was short, almost too short for the part that She played in the book. The only thing that could have made me give this book five stars was to give the MCs a longer Epilogue. After everything they went through, the time they waited, it just seemed unfair to only have them together, in peace for two pages.

Okay…. BUT EXCUSE ME?!

Oh. My. Heart. This finale didn’t just close the trilogy— it shattered me and rebuilt me in the span of a few chapters. I thought I was ready for the chaos, but this wasn’t chaos. This was a storm of emotions that left me gasping, crying, and clapping like an unhinged fan at 2 a.m. That long-awaited twist we’ve all been waiting for? It landed like lightning, and I’m still buzzing from the aftershock. The ending was viciously perfect. The epilogue? A tease. I’m screaming for a spinoff and refusing to move on.The LGBTQIAP+ representation was stunningly real and hit all the right emotional notes. This series is pure magic tangled with heartbreak, and if you need a sign to dive in— this is your flashing neon billboard.

Last in the trilogy

This series got me back into reading. I randomly picked it up from my library and could not wait for this third one to come out.4 stars because this particular book felt overall a little unorganized and confusing. Still amazing and I couldn’t put it down. Great conclusion to an awesome trilogy.
