Gripping, atmospheric, and off-putting, The Red Knot is the perfect blend of occult mystery and small-town horror.
On a tiny, isolated island off the southern Alaskan coast, three girls have vanished without a trace, and Audra's close friend--the island's therapist--has been found murdered. A recent storm has severed all communication with the outside world, leaving Audra, the town's lead detective, trapped and at the head of a very personal case.
Her lead suspect, Valorie, the daughter of a notorious cult leader and the town's outcast, was discovered blood-covered and dazed at the crime scene. Valorie's memory is a gaping void, a dark well hiding traumatic secrets, including the truth about the teenage kidnappings that haunt the island.
As Audra digs deeper into the town's twisted history, it becomes clear other murders on the island, dating back decades, might be connected. The clock is ticking for the missing girls, and every clue leads Audra to question even those she's known her whole life.
Valorie must confront the horrors of her past while Audra's investigation becomes a descent into madness. On this cursed island, the line between neighbor and nightmare blurs, revealing that true horror often wears a familiar face.

This book. Wow, y’all. It’s beautiful and unsettling. Tense and downright creepy. The suspense and sense of dread I felt for the characters steadily blossomed as the story went on. The journey is wild and filled with excellent twists and turns. I flew through these pages!
Woaah. This one is a lot. There are so many creepy, psychologically dark, and upsetting things happening in one book. But it all works, it’s not overwhelming, it just a really well written story. I’m not lying when I say I couldn’t put it down. The story is a detective novel, with a serial killer picking off girls in a small town. It’s also a story of a church gone cult, and of the men who are trying to take control. Oh and there is a lot of psychological trauma, secrets and lies to pick through as well. This really is a book for anyone who wants to be shocked, unsettled and thrilled. I absolutely loved this book. The characters are deep and dark, totally flawed, and slightly redeemable. The cult tho, the cult is messed up. Read it just for that part, lol, but you’re going to love the whole book.
This book is perfect for the fall. It’s got cults, it’s got two female pov, it’s giving Mare of Eastown meets true detective…it’s twisty turny messed up goodness just in time for spooky season. Loved this one, Monique Asher does it again!
The Red Knot has everything you fear & more. I’m in love w the horror & I can’t stop indulging in it. Asher did it again & even better.
📕Thriller fans - buckle up! This book blew me away. It is a fast-paced psychological thriller that has elements of the occult, supernatural elements and horror.🔎Girls are going missing - but this isn’t the first time events like this have happened in this small town. The book centers on Audra - police detective and mother with connections to the missing she isn’t aware of - and Valorie, who was connected to a missing girl when she and Audra were teens.🎙️Jennifer Pickens commanded this narration - her talents are a huge contributor to why I was up listening until 2AM!! The sound quality, editing, and production quality of the audio is top tier.🤐I don’t want to say more for fear of spoilers - but I DEVOURED this listen over 2 very busy days. Don’t let the horror element scare you off of this one - it is a limited part of the book. You may want to check trigger warnings as this book goes deep! 4.5/5⭐️ read/listen for me.🌷Thank you to Dreamscape Media for access to an advanced copy of this audiobook via NetGalley.
