Loved this book honestly! I wasn’t bored at any point. The banter was excellent. The relationships have a solid foundation. You can relate to the characters. It is a really nice set up for the second book and I’m looking forward to being in the world some more! The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars honestly is because there’s a moment where I feel it should have made me cry but I wasn’t that connected to the character…I wanted to cry lol.
It has everything I love about fantasy, adventure, scary monsters, and well romance! Don’t sleep on this, trust me! 😆
This series is just the palette cleanser I needed after series after series of fated mates/burn the world for her.The romance is central to the characters but not the plot. The character flows make sense for the characters and don’t just get solved and then disappeared. (There is an addiction plot line and as someone who has but up close with addiction, my pet peeve is when a character just up and quits and then everything is fine forever and the addiction never matters again).The world building is great and gives me Game of Thrones vibes. The characters are multi-dimensional and there is never a sense that anyone is totally good or totally evil. As the world is unfolding, it all seems very complicated as far as who the real villains will end up being. I am hoping for at least one redemption arc in the later books and I honestly am not picky about which character it will be.The spice scenes are hot, but the build up is the best part.I’m buying a hard copy so I can cozy up on the couch for my second read of this one. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.
One of my new favorite series. This book was amazing. I loved everything about it. Vikings, monsters, found family, unique magic system, and only one horse 😍 Demi Winters does an amazing job with the world building while also keeping the reader interested and wanting more. I cannot wait to see where this series goes!
