Soledad Barnes has her life all planned out. Because, of course, she does. She plans everything. She designs everything. She fixes everything. She's a domestic goddess who's never met a party she couldn't host or a charge she couldn't lead. The one with all the answers and the perfect vinaigrette for that summer salad. But none of her varied talents can save her when catastrophe strikes, and the life she built with the man who was supposed to be her forever, goes poof in a cloud of betrayal and disillusion.
But there is no time to pout or sulk, or even grieve the life she lost. She's too busy keeping a roof over her daughters' heads and food on the table. And in the process of saving them all, Soledad rediscovers herself. From the ashes of a life burned to the ground, something bold and new can rise.
But then an unlikely man enters the picture--the forbidden one, the one she shouldn't want but can't seem to resist. She's lost it all before and refuses to repeat her mistakes. Can she trust him? Can she trust herself?
After all she's lost . . .and found . . .can she be brave enough to make room for what could be?

Two potent love stories—first the love of self and then a romantic love. Kennedy Ryan’s words are poetic. I read her lines over and over again paying them homage. This book is one of the reasons she is one of my favorite authors. I also loved experiencing the love story of an autistic person. We are learning more and more about autism in the Black community everyday. So I appreciate Kennedy Ryan celebrating these experiences. I have never read a love story that demonstrates this love and it has forever changed me.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Kelly Ryan. The book is part of a series. The story is about three women friends of a particular age who share in each other's trials and triumphs in their lives: careers, children, and relationships. When one is going through a rough patch, the other 2 are right in the thick of things with her. I couldn't put it or the other two books down.
Kennedy Ryan did not disappoint again. This series has truly been a great read and she articulates so well what these women going through. These are not love stories but stories about healing, love, triumph, etc. I cannot wait to read the next book.
Such a great book! I want to read it again!!!! Such a hopeless romantic & this book just does it for me.
Kennedy Ryan can do no wrong! What a brilliant writer! Her research and stories hook you from the start! I always feel like not only have a read an amazing story, I learn so much as well!
