The #1 New York Times bestselling author, whose books so many love, brings us a fresh, contemporary story of a woman and her unruly blended family
"Nobody writes women the way Jojo Moyes does." --Jodi Picoult
Lila Kennedy has a lot on her plate. A broken marriage, two wayward daughters, a house that is falling apart, and an elderly stepfather who seems to have quietly moved in. Her career is in freefall and her love life is . . . complicated. So when her real dad--a man she has barely seen since he ran off to Hollywood thirty-five years ago--suddenly appears on her doorstep, it feels like the final straw. But it turns out even the family you thought you could never forgive might have something to teach you: about love, and what it actually means to be family.

I really liked this book. It's all about a crazy mixed up family who are going through hard times But isn't every family a crazy mixed up family ?
It is hard to put this book down, just when you think you’ve figured it out, there’s a plot twist and another one.
I went in with no expectations. I don’t think I’ve ever read anything by this author, but was recommended by someone in a book group I’m in. Knew from the first page that this story would suck me in. Partially because I had this experience, my Dad left our family for another, my Mom was very like Lila, mad, hurt, humiliated. Then she met her Jensen, and was really happy for the rest of her life. I loved this book. The story was great, and the writing was really good. My only complaint is that I would like to know what Lila wrote next…
This book I stumbled upon, first time reading a Moyes book. It was a well written, easy, fun read. The story takes place in Britain, so some of the slang I had to look up. The part about cups of squash at a school event had me scratching my head! All I could picture were children eating squash, after a little research I found out that it’s fruit juice 😁 There are many other little differences that I was able to figure out, but the squash made me laugh out loud 🤣
It’s been a while since I read a Jojo Moyes book and I have missed her. She’s so much better than any therapy session.
