Under the mistletoe, a single mom and a professional athlete realize they have more in common than the lake house they unexpectedly have to share for the holidays, in this heartwarming romance from New York Times bestselling author Julia London.
All Amy Casey wants for Christmas is to paint. She needs five new paintings for the holiday show at her local art gallery, but between her two teenage sons, her needy ex-husband, and her overbearing parents, she hardly has any time for herself. Luckily, her best friend has the perfect solution: a vacant family lake house in North Texas, all hers for two weeks of distraction-free painting. Or so she thought.
Turns out professional golfer Harrison Neely also rented the lake house so he can spend the holidays rehabbing the injury that has put his career--and life--on hold. Despite the booking snafu, both Amy and Harrison (along with Amy's old blind dog and the army of child-sized nutcrackers residing in the living room) agree to share the festive lodging.
When an impending snowstorm has the two cozying up by the fire, sparks fly in more ways than one, and they open up to each other, unwrapping secrets and stories they've never shared before. But Harrison is expected back on the tournament circuit after the holidays, and Amy's family needs her. As their departure date looms and her family and his manager press them for answers, they'll have to decide if this December to remember has been a fun holiday fling, or if they've found a Christmas miracle: true love.

Loved this book! Very uplifting and it was a “don’t want to put it down” kind of book!
While It Was Snowing by Julia London"While It Was Snowing" is a delightful, entertaining story that features mature characters, including a single mother, an injured golfer, a blind dog, and elements of forced proximity, found family, and plenty of family antics. I listened to the audiobook version, which was narrated by a single voice that I thought did a commendable job.I truly appreciated the mature female and male main characters in this tale. A single mom and a golf pro, both strangers, find themselves in the same overbooked cabin. Although they arrive for different reasons, they decide that the cabin is spacious enough for both to achieve their respective goals. This book was very enjoyable, making it a quick read or listen.
“I don’t want to make you sad, Amy”. “You’ve never did, you’ve made very happy.” She looked up at him “You were exactly the right person for me to meet at the very right time. The rest of it it’s just life. People come and go, but some times one would lodge in your heart and take up the empty space.” “ You’ve taken every inch of space in mine, it’s not fair”. “Life seldom is” Double booked in a wonderful house by the lake, divorced and mom of two teenager boys and a professional golfer out of a long injury will find that life is more complicated but at the same time, easier than we think. And you can find love amidst chaos and snowstorms against all odds. Amy MsFadden makes an excellent job in the audiobook with all the crazy characters, big emotions and lots of feelings. Thanks to. EtGalley and Dreamscape media for the ALC. this is my honest review.
POV ~ dual 3rdFeaturing ~ single mom, needy family, artist, pro golfer, forced proximity, strangers to lovers, very minimal steamageAmy (51) & Harrison (49) meet when the house they are staying at was double booked. Although strangers, they deem each other not a threat, so they decide that they'll both stay for 2 weeks. It is a mansion after all, so there's plenty of space for them to cohabitate and do their own thing.Amy just needs some quiet time to work on her art. Time away from her VERY needy family of 2 teenage boys, a brother living with her, an ex husband that made a mistake and wants her back, and parents that might be having some trouble. Do you think she’ll get some quiet time? Highly unlikely. They were all annoying me, so I can just imagine how she was feeling.Harrison is a pro golfer taking time to nurse a knee injury and to decide if he might be getting too old to be on tour anymore. So happy to get a different athlete than the norm. I’m quite familiar with the game, my hub is even away on a golf trip right now, and my dog’s name is Arnie after Arnold Palmer.Always thrilled to read about characters of a certain age instead of the youngens. They were very relatable with their knee pain and need for readers. There’s low drama, which worked well with the age bracket, too. Don’t get me wrong there’s still drama, but that’s all with her family, not with our MC’s, which was refreshing.I’m more of a big dog lover myself, but I have to give a shout out to Duchess, the blind dachshund, who runs into walls and wears sweaters.Overall, really enjoyed it.Narration notes:Well, only one narrator for dual 3rd, but she did okay as usual.
While it was Snowing by Julia LondonContemporary holiday romance.Amy Casey just sold a few of her paintings at a local art gallery and is asked to bring in five more. She doesn’t have any more done so decides to take a short vacation away from her family to focus on her painting. Her sons are teenagers and should be able to take care of themselves though there is also an adult in the same house to help out. She’s able to rent a cabin from her best friend in North Texas for two weeks on her own. Exactly what she needs.Except she’s not alone in the huge lake house cabin. A rental mixup has her sharing the house with pro golfer Harrison Neely who is rehabbing his knee and rethinking his career. They agree to share the house and end up spending time in front of a cozy fire and away from the approaching snow storm. Life isn’t that easy to escape from but they give it their all.🎧 I listened to an audiobook narrated by Amy McFadden. The performance is marvelous with various voices for different characters and emotions clearly expressed just as exasperation, interest and passion. The story comes alive via the audiobook. I could easily visualize the cabin, the snow and her paintings while listening. This narrated has performed hundreds of books and the professionalism comes through without exception.I listened at my usual 1.5 and slightly above to more closely match local conversation speed.Slightly older protagonists made the story easy to read without the usual angst of new relationships. These adults have goals and dreams but are practical and willing to take a little detour in their adventures. I loved the banter and discussions and their willingness to have a little fun in life. They knew their responsibilities and when it needed attention.A cozy romance with heartwarming connections, even while juggling family, career and more. A bit of humor from family and situations.4.5I received a copy of this from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media.
